Hi all,
Is anyone (or has anyone) ever sponsored a roundabout before?
Is/was it worth it?
Just curious.
Regards.

Martin,
Just another way to waste ones advertising budget.
Yp,Old customers letters, Leaflets, face to face selling, internet ,targeted mail shots are in my opinon the only things worth bothering with.
cheers,

Hi Doug,
Yeah your probably right. It looks more suited to larger or corporate companies that just want to promote their name in peoples minds. As opposed to being in a response orientated market.
I was just curious that's all, being as I live in the Roundabout capital of the UK. :D
Cheers for replying anyway.

If it was the roundabout in the local town centre, then surely for name recognician it would be worth it.
But how much does it cost.

Dave,
Costs are between £2000 and £5000 PA. :o
Basically, the signage is all in the same professional format/size organized by the local council.
You have your company Logo/phone no/ website/slogan on it. Usually at least four signs on each roundabout but more if there are more roads feeding onto it.
I guess the variation in cost relates to the traffic numbers and flow.
I may phone a couple of companies up that are doing it just out of interest, but think that Doug is probably right.
Regards.

I think it would be differcult to right down a telephone number whilst driving round a roundabout

Martin,
Martin might be worth you sponsoring the local swings ,
afterall what you lose on them you'll gain on the roundabouts ;D
Cheers,

Maybe u should advertise u clean Traffic Lanes.......

We stuck an A3 size laminated sign advertising our cycle-hire business onto a fence post next to a tourist attraction a few weeks ago, unbelievable response from it.
Did the same last year advertising our window cleaning side at the entrance to a new 150 house estate, again, very good response.
Both were free advertising and I'm not sure if they were strictly legal or not, but they worked and in the case of the cycle hire are working very well

Me personally id rather plough £5000 into radio advertising a good annoying jingle and youre onto a winner

I quite like the Idea and 2k aint bad, I wasted far more than that on other forms of advertising so may make enquiries :)

Thanks guys,
At least there were some sensible replies in there. :D What I was getting at, was that there are thousands of Cars going through every day, commuters, school runs, shoppers etc.
Like Mike Halliday says with the leaflets, it's the constant repetition that eventually gets your name in the customers mind. Now I'm not saying for a minute that it's the same, as clearly a leaflet bears a sales message, with more information etc, it's also something tangible that the customer has in their hand, can read at their leisure, and make an informed decision about whether to pick up the phone or not.
It may work, it may not!! Some people spend 2 to 5K on a YP ad and say it's crap!!
The rest of you...........................I've never heard any of those before!! I'm still splitting my sides laughing ;D ;D :D :D :) :)
But I get the jokes............................In a roundabout sort of way. ;D
Regards.

Martin,
Review your advertising options, decide your strategy then go for it
