hi guys
i know this sounds boring but would anyone happen to know why my t.d.s. reading has gone from 000 to 010 in the space of two weeks. just checked it today as water in my containers was reading 002 so had a sort out and water is reading 010. it is a 200gpd ro from pure freedom with a deionizing cartridge. it is leaving the ro at 026 and coming out of the di at 010 where as befor it was 000. as i say the system is only 2 weeks old and i have produced only about 1000 ltrs so surely the di cant of run out.anyone have any suggestions?? would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

how big is the di vessal ??
Little thing to check when starting your fill look at the tds mine rises to over 700, I learnt by defult to run off some water before di on every fill or it eats resin.

i think you have to run the water through for about an hour before you connect di
for production

How large is your DI canister? Here are some guidelines as to how long they will last if you are getting an output of 26ppm TDS from the RO:
10" = 650 litres
20" = 1300 litres
7 litre vessel = 6000 litres
11 litre vessel = 10000 litres.
Usage will always be dependant on how many litres you have processed not how long they have been in use for.

Thanks guys for your help. Thanks also Alex for your calculations and i am amazed the 10 inch (which i have) only lasts that long. it sounds like i could probably do with buying a big 11 litre vessel, is this as straight forward to fit as the 10 inch one? I am staggered its only 2 weeks and 1000 ltrs produced and i need to replace it. Anyone know best place to buy one before i go trawling the net.thanks again guys

Certainly sounds like you need a much larger DI vessel. It may even be better to use two DI vessels after the RO and just change the first one when the TDS coming out of it = the TDS going in. That way you will have plenty of leeway to change vessel two's resin (very occasionally).

Price check against each other and watch out for postage.
Do you use an inline tds meter ? if you do get a handheld aswell.

What is your TDS in from the tap?
26 out of the RO seems quite high to me.
You can refill the cartridge inside the DI vessel that you have with resin. You will get fed up of having to do it so often though. I would get a bigger one if I were you.

tds in from tap is 340 and the ro brings it down to 26. does that seem right to you roughly??
-
Tds sounds very high to me after RO. What pressure are you running at? I had the RO-man 300gpd with booster pump and got about 4-5ppm from 280-320 input.
Also check your Tds Meter - they're usually way off. Buy some calibrating fluid. Never trust an in-line meter.
-
dont think pressure is too good not sure what though. if i bought a booster pump would it bring the tds reading out of the RO down then??
-
i have a merlin 720 ro and my tap water is 280 tds and once its been thru merlin its down to about 50--54tds is this about right or even normal...
regards ffc
-
wow, my tds is about the same before (280) but after its been through my 4040 RO its down to 002
-
my pressure is bad and i go in at 300 and out at about 12 and that is the cheap 300gpd from ebay for 110 quid.
-
what is the average water pressure then mine is 26 psi do i need a pump..
-
My new house is 75 psi
-
blimey do u think i should invest in pump then or is yrs xtra high
-
My house before was 30 and that was slllllllllllooooooooooow, took forever to fill my tank, cant beieve how quick it is now, i would suggest a booster
-
my new house presure is a lot higher than my old house with approx the same tds reading (056), now can anybody explain why it is taking twice as long to fill my tank through a 300gpd RO, my RO brings it down to 000 without a DI Vessel..

Yes. With a booster pump i reckon it would be less than 7.
