Title: Customer benefits
Post by: Shaun_Ashmore on April 16, 2009, 10:03:02 pm
What are the customer benefits of a TM? meaning why do they want a cleaner with a big machine? what is in it for them?

Today, one of my custy's loved the fact that my machine (Porty) is the same colour as my van... ??? Thus, I would have thought the average Joe doesn't have a clue what a Truck Mount is... I didn't until I started looking into becoming a C/C myself ::)

I would have thought you would know the benefits Shaun... Not using the custys water, electric etc etc... Quicker drying times! There's even an ad in one of our rags suggesting that cos it's quicker with a TM, it's cheaper ::)

A feature of our machine.............. is the QUIETNESS as it's well away from the door
An advantage of our machine....... is it's greater power which results in a more thorogh clean
A benefit of our machine .............. is the fact that it does'nt circulate dampness or odour throughout your home as it works.

But I'm sure you've got all that already.

P S

Why bother about the machine when you know what the customer wants. They will either like you or not and that's more important than having a Titan outside growling about how he's BIGGER and MORE powerful than all the little portables put together.

I've heard the pros and cons of TM's on here for years. You definitely need both if you've got a truckmount. A portable can do any job in a any situation that a truckmount can but a TM cant do everything a portable can do.

A house with no electric now thats a great argument for getting a TM  NOT  ;D Been waiting 12yrs of carpet cleaning to see that, a house with no electric.

I'm not using it as an argument to get a T/M just answering your sweeping statement.

I've had quite a few problems with electrics when I used a portable, inc no electric & sensitive fusebox.

I'm not slagging off TM's here but you cant deny there  must be lots more occasions when a TM cant do the job a portable can. If I was to get a truckmount I would surely have to carry a portable too?

ive turned down 3 jobs in 11 months of trading, that doesn't justify having a back up portable. on them stats it would take me 5 years to get my money back on a decent portable, and the speed of a truckmount means i can make up them jobs in a week. and i certainly don't mind passing them jobs on to porty guys.

portables are a great bit of kit but unless you live in a high rise area then a truckmount wins hands down, apart from price. but like i said they make up for that.

just my opinion, don't have a cow guys.

derek

ps... i do agree with your statement about there being more occasions for tm's over portys but not enough to justify anything.

I would love a truckmount, but must admit it is a big investment. My porty does everything i require even eot cleans when my genny will run the machine.
Having seen all the talk on here about which is best. It is clear that TM have advantageds as do porty's. Its all down to budget at the end of the day....What you can afford at the time.
At the mo my machine brushes as it cleans. using a wand does the pile come up?

One day :) :) :)

Shaun I think you already market on the main benefits to custys
dry when you go and deepest possible clean the main benefits to you
imo are speed and a great big advert sitting at your custys door the
neighbours will remember.

Shaun

As a rule of thumb, a customer or prospect wants a clean carpet. Most, but certainly not all, don't care about your tools or how big they are, whether they are controlled by a micro processor or by a steam generator with radial foo-foo valves.

I do get the occasions though where previous cleans by, for example, a national franchise didn't meet their expectations, so a brief description of the relevant systems (not tools).

IMO, to bring a truck mount into your marketing material is probably best served by references to the considerable capital investment into your business with the highest powered equipment available, which will enable you to gently clean a delicate oriental rug through to the heaviest soiled restaurant, pub or nightclub.

Just the thoughts of someone inexperienced in the world of direct marketing.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Sam's the one to watch out for, very charming and knowledgable. If I'd had 25k in my bank account, she would have had it from me for a fantastic TM set up with van ::) ::) ::).
