Im just wondering the people who have a split relay how often people give there battery a charge? at home with main charger?
i think mine ran low today as the pump was quite quiet and slower i think hardly any water coming out, luckily just about got round and awkward house.
So it either needs a charge or theres something wrong with the pump lol
-
Do you have a varistream?
-
No i dont at the moment just a return to tank with tap on it.
-
i am connecting my pump to van battery but not using relay or anything. wires straight from pump to battery.
-
Seems like your pressure switch may have gone :-\
i would get a varistream ;)
-
I might do,
if you fit a varistream doesn't that cancel out the pressure switch on the pump? so i dont need to buy a new pump either?

That`s right varistreams make it much better and can even save battery life ;)
-
if the pressure switch is not working you can simply call the guys and they will sell you the switch kit instead of a whole new pump

so do i need some kind of relay switch or not ?
-
sounds like the battery is knackered, to test, just run the power cables from the pump to a good battery
if you have a split charge system you dont ever need to take the battery out to charge it
-
cheers steve,
still might buy a varistream though for battery and exact flow rates.
Im using a flojet pump if the pressure switch has gone, would the pump not switch off when it gets to full pressure? if the tap was closed on the return valve. this is not how i use it but just wondering if i can easily find out if its that or not.
-
not sure about flojet as never had one, but on the shurflo they just work intermitently or not at all when faulty
I have the varistream and it is handy to have especialy if you have a big job/day where you may not have enough water to finish as you can minimize the water used
-
well thanks anyway.
i will look at the battery first anyway, thing is i dont use it day in day out 9-5 so the relay prob has not chargedit to much and it was not new when i had it .
-
if the engine is running and the pump is still slow , its not the battery.....check for kinks etc in the hoses ....you can also bypass the pressure switch, this will let you know if it is the pump or pressure switch ;)

maplans for new swich £1.50
