While on a job today, i was doing a window down the side of the house and wondered how this sort of window would get rinsed with a fan jet as the brush has to be side ways to rinse ?

Here's a video of pencil and fan jets:

Fan jets all the way.

Tried both and although you may get a better coverage with fans, it's 10 times easier to make a mistake. I don't think they provide enough water drop on the glass either, the water just seems to stick to the glass before it decides to go south.

its a personal thing i think as to what jets you prefer,
but i always use pencils, as they are more accurate, and as what has been said before the extra weight of water, with the pencils, i find helps to wash the dirt away easier.
the only time i use fan jets is on gutter fascia cleans.

I use fan jets all the time,I find pencil jets a nightmare on windows that bead, you could be there all day rinseing! :-[

Good post, thats exactly how it is.

I used fan jets about 2 years ago for 1 day and as soon as i got home changed them back to pencil jets i hate the fan jets.
I like the acuracy of pencil jets.

Can't vote as I use both. I have been using supalite dt for rinsing on, for 6 months or so. really like it except it has pencil jets. B4 I used a salmon brush with fans but was never 100% confident about rinsing on. Never had a complaint in about 4 months with that brush but sometimes when I checked up I could see spots. Next brush will either be a fan supalite or a supa lite with at least 3 pencil jets, preferably 4, if I can fit them somehow. B4 those 2 I used Vikans pencils.

If the windows are cleaned regular it dosen`t matter what you use and whether they bead or not makes no difference,on 99% of work a brush with rinsing on the glass is all you need to do a good job you can get over cautious with rinsing it`s not always needed it`s all in the technique and amount of water used that determines whether or not you`ll do a good job.

pencil .

I voted fan, but i'm awaiting delivery of 2 flocked supalite double trims- one fan, one pencil. i'll use whichever best suits the job.
i've never felt so posh! ;D
