Post by: S.A.J on April 12, 2009, 09:22:13 pm
Need to get a ladder for my van, but do not want a roof rack!

What do you guys think of this?

Macc

Im thinking about one of those ladders also.
When you extend them and you don't need the full length do the parts you don't need stay at the bottom if so is there not a huge first step.

And how does each section stay in place do they have clips on the side.
And if you have it fully extended is it easy to close up.

Sorry for all the questions just want to make sure its for me.

Links look good. I've heard they are a bit rickety, but the spec seems ok regarding weight load etc. Wouldn't mind a go, it would save getting the ladders off the roof. Anyone use them? What do you think?

I think they look ok (ish) if you're a bird who has the occassional need for something a tad higher than a set of steps.

No "man" would be seen dead with a set of these ;D

Hi guys i have had 2 set off these befor and the only problem with the ladder is when your on top off some one's roof and you need to pick them up and get down the other side soon as you pull them from the top all the rungs come out unless you tie a rope around the bottom rung and this way is a real pain in the back side so i went for the folding set much better.

no good for pulling over roofs.
but i had a play with one at JTF the other day, i  was really impressed. i had it fully extended up the racking, fit under your arm really nicely and not that heavy.
just have 2 clips per rung that lock into place and then you slide them across with your thumbs to drop one rung at a time, or if you can drop a lower one first to bring a section down at a time.
i liked it, and they are tiny when collapsed

 ;)
