Looking to upgrade from my Combo which has been a great van, to maybe one of the Vivaro,s anybody had any dealings with these ? or reccomend a van of the same size.
Thanks Ronaldo.

buy a transit won't go far rong i have just had one fab motor. i was thinking off having vivaro but was told not to so many problems with them. dave
-
I love my vivaro, best vehicle ive owned, prefer it to my car!
People say about problems but i think its a load of rubbish, any car/van can have a problem, just find one that been looked after.
-
have one also good van ;)
-
I've one too.Great van
-
sorry guys did not meen to upset any one i love the vivaro's but with my luck i was going to be one off the unlucky one's to have problems so thats why i went for the tranny. :-[ :-[ :-[

had my vivaro 2 years and its been great regards alan

The gearbox has just gone on my neighbours vivario - seems to happen quite often. :(
-
Have a look at Ability posting 'Vivaro' in the carpet cleaning section!!!
Rob ;D

I have a trafic same van underneath; its great and has never gone wrong. but i prefere to bigger master for the extra payload (1000L) tank and the extra room for other equipment like the gutter vac and jet washer.

They do seem more prone to this fault than most vehicles - even at relatively low mileage.
-
Freind of mine has a Trafic he did 200 miles and the ECU went badly wrong causing it to be off the road for 2 weeks, obviously this isn`t common but i have heard of other people having lots of trouble with them including gear boxes clutches etc.I know all these things can go wrong with any van but they seem to be happening more often with either Vivaro-Trafic-Primastar.
-
Ask BT or AA what they prefer, I got a Trafic and when i go tgo the shop i always jump in the van, its just like driving a car, yes my clutch went costing £600 but this was at 82,000 miles.

I clean a AA mans house they use the vivaro/trafic for their call outs he told me it was the earlier vivaro vans that had problems, mine is a 56 vivaro with 62 on the clock and no problems at all ...like a previous poster says it drives like a car.
ps the AA man told me to steer well clear of V/W transporters...Povey

i have a movano 53 plate and will be takeing it to the scrap yard soon, nothing but trouble and needs at least 2 grands worth of repairs, high pressure fuel pumps can fail at any time on these vans and this shoots metal fragments into the jets etc, its a very common fault on vivaro/movano/master/traffic vans.
i will never touch one ever again. GET a transit
-
I have had my heart set on a transporter for a while now, mate of mine has nothing but praise for them but Trevors AA man has just put a seed of doubt in my mind, any one else had problems with their transporters.

Strange that, I had a flatty the other week and called AA out, I was talking to him about the transporter and he told me the same, He said the Turbo was very prone to blowing especially when heavy load.
-
The Vivaro's drive like a car, really comfy, easy to drive,.. but I also had trouble with one.
Personally I'm torn between a new Boxer or Transit,...
-
dont touch the vivaro nathan, you are buying trouble, my mate just got rid of his after spending thousands repairing the gearbox and the fuel system...he was ripped off and has had enough of the vivaro problems so he traded it in for a transit. ::)
-
I'll ask the AA man when he arrives my Dispatch is sat out side and doesn't want to know :(
Already spent £1400 this year on repairs. :( :( :( :(

hiace is looking good then
-
My primastar ( same as vivaro and traffic ). went in to the garage last week needed a new clutch and slave cylinder, a new gear selector cable and a wishbone for the suspension. Cost £1043. Only done 57000 miles on an 03 plate. P***ed off. On the other hand it has absolutly no signs of rust unlike most transits. I would not buy another one

Anything with a jap engine and you won't (shouldn't) have a problem.

hiace or transit
two top vans

Just bought a new Vivaro last month, and have to say very impressed with it, drives and handles great, and there are some great deals on news ones or ex demos.

like I said in an earlier post the AA man told us that the earlier Vivaros were prone to gear box problems don,t know what year they got over the problem but mines a 56 and he said these were ok...so stick to this year or something newer if you can afford it and you won,t go too far wrong....Povey

damn mines an 06 :-X >:( :-X >:( :'( :'(

i think the gear box problem was around 02 - 04

i think the gear box problem was around 02 - 04
I did read that it was around the 55 plate that this problem was resolved. The person who wrote it is a W/C who was a motor dealer so hopefully the info is reliable. I have an 03 that needed a new gearbox at lowish mileage.
-
Who said they have resolved the gearbox problem because that`s rubbish,i know someone with 2 vivaros and he has had gearboxes go on both vans at almost the same mileage about 35-40000 but he gets them on lease and loves them to drive so he keeps getting them.He now gets the 2.5 semi auto 1`s,he says they drive better and the gearbox has given him no trouble.
-
lets be fair the vivaro/traffic/primastar is a fantastic looking van and i have driven one and can confirm its better than driving a car, but they are a pile of carp, real shame as i think its the smartest van out there

I think the same the look i like over all others but all i hear is bad things about them, another thing is that even if you buy a brand new 1 and you get problems when it`s in the garage you ain`t working.
