R.E End of Tenancy Cleaning
I am a Landlord with a portfolio of properties all over the Kent area area. I am currently looking for a cleaning company to take over the end of tenancy cleaning. Could you provide me with all details including prices for one, two, three, four and five bedroom houses, what you charge an hour and I would also like a copy of your terms and conditions for consideration. Also could you let me know if you charge extra for window cleaning? I am only getting estimates at this stage so would be grateful for this information.
Many Thanks
kiko

I've had several emails like this over the years. It's common practice with some firms to check out the opposition

Play the game ! give them a quote ;D sign them up for every mailing directory you can find, business reply cards and everything else you can find that you think will contact them. What about giving the double glazing salesmen their details outside diy stores. I used to work in a factory and we would fill the business reply cards out for our boss just before he went on holiday and when he got back he could hardly get in his office. We tend to google enquiry phone numbers to give us an idea of who people are before we spend too much time

Hi Yea, Its not that I mind the them asking "What do you charge" Its the fact that they were sneaky! I hate that.
When I looked for prices I actually spoke to companies explaining we are startup. This was years ago. Yes some firms said go away, but some were really helpful. They said to me we appreciate the honesty. So they helped.
Just hate thats all.
And yea its a good idea to sign them up as I have the address as well.#
cheers

Well, horses for courses, me thinks. There may be a good deal of people who do reply to them, some probably even knowing that its a competitor and not a client. There may be some who hated what you did, admiting that you were a competitor. No one can please everyone all of the time. Its not worth getting stressed about.

I think I had a post similiar to this one earlier this month. Had a guy email me to say he needed a quote as soon as possible because his current contractor let him down. It was for dormitory cleaning for a university. Pretty detailed list of what he needed. When I googled the number it came up with a local competitor. Although I had did the quote I did not send it. I thought about trying to send an invoice in the name of the emailer to their head office for my time, put it under pricing consultation or something. It seems to me, if they request the information then they are giving you the go ahead to do the consultation work. I provide free quotes to potential clients but I think I should charge around 60 GBP per hour for competitors, what do you thinl ;D
