called in a suppliers after work today and noticed the new ionics pole, well thats a bit of good luck i thought as i dont often get a chance to sample before i buy. Anyway picked it up to have a play and i could nt believe what it was like. After reading all the hype about what it can do i e one pole does everythingi can honestly say i would nt have one given me.this is not a post saying the pole is bad or anyone who buys one wont like it just was nt what i was expecting for a top of the range pole. cheers mick

well as i said with all the hype about this pole and with some on here comparing it with the s l x i expected it to be extremly light and vey easy to use on ground floor,i found none of these to be the case.i would nt like to hold it horizontal either although i must admit i did nt try,ps this is nt a plug for the s l x as i have nt seen one of those.cheers mick

2.11 kg.......does that sound heavy for a c.f pole of 28 foot

Does it feel the same to hold weight wise as the SLX and how much shorter closed is it.

It would be too light for you Luke, you need a mans pole. Get a scaffold pole and have a proper work out. You don't want a girlie mamby pamby carbon pole. Have a proper work out every day and save the money from gym fees for some protein supplements. ;D

I saw it at the cleaning show and i'd say it was comparable with the sl-x (i use an sl-x).
I wasn't that keen on the plastic clamps though and if I remember right the adjusters were on the right where i'd prefer them on the left.

the problem with stating weight is that it s not always lightest that is best let me explain, being an angler and using carbon poles for years i was always swayed by stated weight when i bought a new pole,until my mate got a certain pole and i said to him it s nice but they weigh a ton,now i m talking 998 gms for 13 mtrs but when you hold them horizontlyit can feel really heavy .He said have a go then and when i picked it up i could nt believe how light it was,how come i said, it s in the BALANCE so going on from there apole with better balance will feel better to work with and bearing in mind we use poles in many positions the balance needs to be right.I think thats what surprised me with the glyder . cheers mick
