Post by: andyatkinson on April 09, 2009, 08:28:38 pm
had the demo the other day from brodex which i thought was quite good so considering.
had the call today
"hi its patrick from brodex"
and he asked me where i was up to with my decision, so i told him i was still considering and as i had said on day would be a couple of months before needed anyway.........

... and the best sales line EVER...........
Andy...let me put it this way if you were me, how would you convince you to buy this system from us now?
I LOVE IT! best sales line ever and a mornings worth of chuckles from it. ;D ;D ;D

yes- a double negative being a positive.

He was asking you to suggest a price to him- 'let me have it £900 cheaper'
He could then have said' be realistic what if i meet you halfway'
etc.

What system was it?

Salesman: Andy...let me put it this way if you were me, how would you convince you to buy this system from us now?

Andy: Well, <Salesman's name>. I always go for win-win when I can. You give me one for free and, in return, I'd write you a glowing testimonial and act as a local demonstrator one day a month.

Let's see how far THAT gets you.

He's using a technique well-known in coaching circles in which the client solves their own problem.

E.G "If I were to tell you one thing that would make you stop smoking immediately, what would it be."

Or, "If I could give you one idea that would help you double your monthly income without doing any extra work or spending any extra money, what would it be?"

It's a great technique for coaching, but a really bad one for salesman to use. If anyone gets the same call, tell them that the technique they're using is unethical.

Tell them, "You're using a coaching technique designed to help me solve my own problems to help you meet your sales targets - and that is evil."

What was the position with the free pole offer at the demo.
Jamie did my demo and told me ' oh we just had a few old poles and they have all gone'
Its not done their image a lot of good with me, waiting for Patrick to follow up on the demo!
Good machine though, the 250RO.
Anybody else had the brush off, (sorry for the pun) with the poles?

They might as well become car salesmen 'cos their crap too. My son went to look at a second hand car last week. It had some stone chips "that will all be done before we sell it sir". The tyres were well worn "we'll fit four new tyres Sir" and so it went on.
Come the day to pick it up and " sorry the paint man didn't turn up - had trouble with his van". "Didn't change the tyres 'cos they are still legal"
These kind of salesmen do nothing for their business except harm it's reputation.

combat1, jamie said weve run out of the free poles, he said they were crap anyway and you would never have used it, instead they would chuck in the trolley for free if i bought the system, an ok deal but now i only get the freebie when i buy not as promised when i have a demo

I had the demo at the start of March - had two quotes and have been told my pole will be with me "in the next 10 days" - shall we wait and see what happens?

As regards the selling technique - it is a bit strong, but having been in sales in a previous life it didn't worry me particularly.
But this doesn't get us away, as far as I can see, as to what sort of company they are and they the way they deal (or not) with their potential customers - would you do it to your potential customers?
