hi all
finally got a laptop and on net.
no more messing abot at library.
reading alot of old posts regarding diy poles and cheaper alternatives/
1/ emporium bulldog 17 ft
how good is this pole i.e how rigid also how many sections and what is size compressed down?
anyone got one
2/ also thompson ganster is it? 11m, read two thiniest sections no good but can make 24 ft.
how good is this pole i.e how rigid?
couldn't find answers to these questions: any advice would be great.
ps, should i just save all money and then splash out on slx?
just got a few on my round i dread due to using 30 ft streamline pole, weighs a ton, is it just me i think these poles are crap and fall to bits within 6 months :-\
thanks lee
happy easter all :-\

Go to B&Q and in the decorating section you will see the Haris pole. It's about £18.
This is the bulldog pole just made up by Empor.
It's easy to diy your self ;)
-
anybody got the link to convert the harris pole?
-
i think this is what your looking for

www.mullarkeys.co.uk/fishing/poles-and-accessories/carp-and-match-fishing-poles/0/ron-thompson/7389/
you wont go far wrong with that 8)
there is a guide on ciu on setting it up under gazzas new pole , i think
-
thanks very much mike ;)
just a few points you may know the answer to:
1/ can you buy two fish poles to use together to increase on height as 15ft seems max?
2/ what's the verdict on doing same to gangster pole, is it to bendy.
thanks again for pointing me to this site, and thanks to tosh for taking the time to put this post together.
what happen to gazza is he still trying out pole?
can't see he's verdict.
must admit i've got to go out now and have read word for word.
I'm slow reader :-[
happy easter lee
don't eat too many eggs; i got none :'(

you can use the two together ,and combine some other poles as well
might be a bit bendy for some ;)
, but suits me fine 8)
ive got the musclezone pole ,its the uprated version of the gangster
happy easter to you as well
-
thanks again mike.
p.s would it gain a bit of extra length on zenoflex pole using bentley broom screw fitting,
if it was narrower you'd have to saw pole down less, just a thought i'm probably wrong :(
also been thinking if plastic winemaking syphon taps would fit onto tubing on pole instead of heavy microbore metal tap?
found website http://www.art-of-brewing.co.uk/acatalog/image.htm
syphon taps are £! each was thinking of putting one behind brush head after Y shape and then one at bottom of pole.
don't know if anyone's already done this.
i'm happy to splash out a fiver and order, no where local to go into,
i let you know ;) probably waste of money.
I'd like the money back i've wrongly spent trying different cloths buckets ladders poles etc etc
i reckon it would pay for a decent holiday :'(
ttfn :D

hi lee
ive got the emporium fitting on mine, cannot find it on there site at mo
if you email them i think they still supply them,
it will take the bentley and supa lite no probs 8)
not sure about the tap , but for that price give it a go.
ime not sure if it s on this site or matts diy but i think there is a thread on making a fitting
like the emporium one to attach the brush to pole
mike

i use a short bit of unger ( you can cut down he unger angle adaptor for the short length required )
then use the unger vikan cone that wintec sell ( its a nice bit of kit )

thanks
-
so your saying that because i use an emporium pole and supalite brushes
and combine them with other bits of kit that ime a cowboy
and that helping another wc on this site to save money that we are all talking poo
i think this thread is going to run and run ;D ;D
by the way i have run my cleaning business since 1982, and i would never talk down to anyone
using their ideas to help
dont think you sound professional
rant over ;D

Mls is as thick as my genitals.
To the untrained eye a Superlight is no different in looks to a DIY fishing pole.
I reckon he's got more credit than sense.

its pointless to try and explain to people like mls, they just dont get it, i wouldnt waste your time trying to explain
let him carry on using heavy purpose made pole ( after all its a "tool of the trade" ::) ::), just carry on using the lightest of light poles

Reading the poop that's written on this thread I can't imagine why some folk view window cleaning as unprofessional and full of cowboys ???
The thing is, Mlscontractcleaner is referring to the image of a window cleaner as a cowboy.
But there's another common misconception regarding window cleaners, and that's that they're all thick-as-two-short-planks.
And with replies like that, I'm inclined to believe it.

certainly lives upto the image
though i am sure he will be on here pointing out he employes 30 blokes and lives in a castle and owns a 3 million pound yacht for the weekend

Please can I remind people not to swear.

I missed MLS' post and assume it was derogatory to fishing pole users.
Well as a born again new SLX user you might think I would feel the same but I don't.
My fishing pole lasted two years and allowed me to do everything up to 3rd floor work. Sure, it broke and chipped from time to time but it was easy to repair and I've still kept the top three feet and brush for long runs of low windows where I don't want the weight of the SLX.
Fishing poles have their place and if you are starting on a budget I really recommend them. Once you are used to them they are quick to use and light and rigid too.
Don't get me wrong, I love the flexibility of my SLX and prefer it but frankly my custy's don't care whether I clean their windows with a bog brush on a length of bamboo as long as their windows shine afterwards.
I believe some people have to justify to themselves why they spent so much unnecessarily. (a bit like BMW and 4 x 4 owners! ;D)

i'l defianetly be using fish pole,
probably go for muscle zone as reccomended by elite mike
got a brodex eco lite 18ft pole still going strong 2 yrs old, will do 97% of my work
as said before just a handful of jobs need big pole, i cry every time i have to use and so does my poor back :'(
i just haven't got £440 for sl-x :'(
even if i did there's still a very long queue :(
can be quite a bit of snobbery on here by some ::)
thankfully small percent, just like pain in the bum custy's ;D
thanks every one for your posts
