I read this week that the bigger a company gets, the bigger it's investments (debts).
Apparently, the average small business employing less than 5 people has in the region of £40,000 worth of investment! :o

Are you referring to the ratio of debt to annualised turnover or an amount of debt expressed as pounds shillings and pence?
When I started out on my own I agreed with myself one or two basic rules, one of which was that the company would be zero geared. So far I have managed to honour this rule. But I am sure an opportunity will present itself when I will need to abandon this principle.
