Hi all,
Done my maths on the RO-Man website and my 75GPD pro RO system is producing 59.81 litres of water a day. How can i speed this up as thats just not going to be enough for what i am going to need.
I know you can get a water pump and believe this will speed my production up. Do i have to get a propper window cleaning pump ? My brother has suggested fixing a central heating pump... would this work ?

I dunno, i use a ro man booster pump. That will give you another 75% of production. The other way is to add another membrane.
Your supplier would be the best person to ask.

Central heating pump is a circulator not a pump as such and would be useless.

Have checked the RO and I have a small leak on the connection between the first membrane housing and the coconut membrane housing.
Could this be loosing me pressure on my RO hense the the low production rate?
Have checked the pressure of the water coming from the pipe going into the RO and it seems a good pressure.

you can get an upgrade membrane for your unit at gardiners or ro man
simple to fit

There is a leak between the first and second membrane on the pipe that connects the two if you know what i mean

take the jg fitting out and try some ptfe
screw it back and see

so if i take the RO apart i wll have the two tops of the 1st & 2nd housings joined together.
The pipe linking them will simply unscrew ?
What is ptfe ?

Have a look at the fittings on this link. They are john guest fittings and i expect your RO pipes will be connected using these.

If they are then just try and push the pipe in a bit more. This will probably be all it needs.
To get the pipe out, you have to push the pipe in and then pull it out keeping hold of the john guest part that the pipe is in. Then pull the pipe out.

Have sorted the leakage problem now. Just needed tightening up a little more.
Has brought the psi up though
Going to see if the production has increased with the 1 pint method

ptfe tape plumbers tape just wrap a few layers around the thread
get it from any diy

I checked the conversion rates before i bought it and it was what i was looking for production wise. Will speak to the supplier about this on monday. I am not happy about this at all !!!!!!!!! will have to remember to not swear shout or scream when im on the phone.
Might be a LITTLE difficult though >:(

Where did you buy it. Ro-man? The paperwork i got with my ro gave production rates with a certain water pressure and temperature.
Even giving you the output advertised, it is far too small for a wfp window cleaner.
Money is obviously tight so writing this RO off isn't an appealing thought.
So the only bright side really is that it will be big enough to be able to reach and clean windows above conseravatory roofs etc using your backpack. The downside is that it won't produce enough water for you to be able to do the rest of the windows using wfp. You wil need to be a traditional window cleaner who just happens to be able to reach windows that you can't off a ladder.
Buying a new upgraded membrane will at least mean you won't have to buy a new RO for a few months at least.
You will need a proper booster pump though. There is no way of getting out of that.

Well its going to have to go back to them as I cant make a living on it. there is a big difference between the advertised production and the actual production.
I have some conservatorys and facias to do so i am sending it back and getting one that will give me a production i dont have to brick myself about (see other thread 'what RO')
Just going to have to go out every night knocking to cover the extra im going to fork out.

Just to give an example.
I use a 300gpd RO. This produces about 500 litres a day for a 1000 litre system.
WIth a booster pump it produces about 840 litres of water per day. Going up to around 900 litres in july / august time when the tap water is warmer.
If you want to use a RO without a booster pump you will need to upgrade to at least a 150gpd RO and run it 24/7.
You could always buy a booster pump at a later date if it works out more expensive to buy than upgrading yours.
A booster pump is a good purchase though, because it will bring the tds down significantly, therefore saving on di resin.

I don`t look at how much it does in 24hrs i look to see what it`s gonna give me over say 6-8 hours,i don`t want it running 24-7.
