Ok, I got my TDS meter from pure freedom, I think there website was great, very easy to navigate, I got a fast delivery, the product is excellent, and they went the extra mile by giving me instructions with care and maintenance tips with the invoice so thanks very much :)
Now after taking my reading, its 35 ppm. So I intended on getting a DIY kit from pure freedom and, possibly a pole from gardiner, definitely a goose neck at least from gardiner.
I am going to go for a 125 litter tank, purely because this is just to test the water with wfp and could fit the tank in easy enough. Also I don’t think my little 1.4 litter kangoo would handle a large tank.
Now I would like to go down the DI route without RO, as I will have to fill the system quickly, and can’t leave it filling over night.
What I would like to know is what do I need, what do I ask for, and do you think this system will suite, my circumstances. Also should I get 2 DI tanks one for polishing or just one?
thanks

I figure 4 passagners must weight about 50/52 stone, at least, so I think 2 gallons is about a stone, so thats 104 gallons, or 472 litres.
No, I weight my backet there, its 1.5 stone per 2 gallons, call it 1 gal = 1 stone, so thats about 250 liters.
But my kangoo already has 4 loops, in the back that is the perfect size of the 125 liter lay flat tank that pure freedoms sells.

hi
i have 44ppm and have had no probs just with D.I.
your kangoo should take a 250l tank, I have a Partner and fitted it for 250 tank just to stay under max load with all the gear, Personally i feel 250 just covers my daily needs.
if you go 125l i think you will quickly wish you went for bigger. :o
have a look here http://www.wintecs.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=58_88_83 for ideas

lucky begger, DI only for you. get 2 vessels and run them in series, piggy back like, when the first one is the same tds as whats going in, refill it with resin and swap them round. so that the resin is still doing a job of helping the other vessel newer filled vessel.
i'm sure someone could explain in 1 sentence ;D
-
thanks, I was planning to top up at lunch, and again its just to test the water, also due to parking for some customers I will still have to do some trad.

I know I was hoping like hell that it was under 100, because if I had to use an ro it would cause me problems, as I live in a flat, so cant leave it filling over night.
-
yeah, you'll be going home at lunch to top up. i dont mind it, never been home for lunch before ;D
-
i'm really enjoying it now, but the first cleans are >:( takes ages! honestly i was ready to launch my trolley in the first 2-3weeks. get plenty of water on and turn the flow down after a couple of months cleans.

my mate got the pure freedom 250set up off ebay, fitted it in the bcak of his car! took back seats out, seat belts strap through the baffle, looks good! amazingly.and its a good system. 250 sometimes is not enough for him, so he tops up with the DI off customers taps. if your customers are same water as you, then its an option to save time. because when you run out it will always be on the last few windows, its true
-
ok, I will take a look at the measurements and see if I can fit in the 250, I di want to have room for two trand buckets as well, but I can take a back seats our completely to get room for that.
-
I could get a 250 upright in for def, but with have to take measurements for the lay flat.
thanks
-
don't just test the water, jump in.
i think there will alwaysbe a place for trad, but wfp will make your life simpler and, speaking as someone who has done a head dive from a great height, safer :o.
if you don't start properly then you will regret it sooner or later.
put the trad bucket in front seatwell

Personally I would say go DIY, get yourself a 250l tank, di vessel, microbore hose, pump, varistream and di vessel.
I have just seen a system from a major company and the chap who bought it is well angry with it. Some suppliers seem to be cheap skating customers and fitting items that are not fit to do the job. Namely inferior di vessels.
-
yeah, I read your post, there D.A, they have never had a great rep for customer service either from reading others post so not suprised really. There systems look the part though, and I bet they charged him an arm and a leg as well.

looks good to me , i think with di s that size you would probably get away with one.
hose connectors get them from gardiners,,very good quality

I have kangoo D665 with 400ltr flat tank, (i'm pushing the limit when full though)
My tap TDS is around 90ppm.
Here is my set up-
2 x 11ltr DI vessels (now filled with Tulsion resin)
Ready made pump box from cleantech= (100psi shurflo + digital varistream)
80m minibore (8mm ID)
With the above I have got my resin consumption down to less than 2 x 25ltr bags of resin per year!!! I fill tank at full mains pressure & purify on-demand after the pump.
I would recommend a pump box from cleantech, it's a tad dearer BUT well worth it & a lot less hassle. A hoselok connector on each side for water in & out, just plug it into your 12v cig' lighter socket & away you go! no seperate battery or charger, just un-plug & bring inside in winter so no freezing pump etc. etc. With the digi' varistream the pump uses very, very little power consumption, I've not flattened a battery with it yet. ;)

Looking at your price list it would be cheaper, easier & a LOT less hassle buying the pump box + you wouldn't have to do anything like wiring, fitting etc. just plug up & go. ;)

Havent read through your post but i have a TDS varying from 40 - 50... used a RO system for 2 years without having to change resin in a very small DI bottle...came out at 000, and after 2 years i think 005 was the highest it went.
Few months back i smashed the ro in frost (again) i thought thought im gonna try 2 x DI bottles...in about 3 months ive gone through just over 2 bags of resin...so sod that in my opinion resin costs about £70 - £80 a bag...compared to my not having to change resin in 2 years
Im not telling you what to do, telling you my experience. ;) Just something to think about...

Two DI vessels is best though because you can switch them (or the pipework) around meaning that you won't have to sling the resin as soon as the TDS starts to climb. You can take the resin in the first vessel all the way to tap TDS if you have a second vessel as a failsafe.
My TDS is about 16 (after the RO settles down again) and a 14 litre bottle lasts me nearly six months (with a second vessel as backup). Without the backup vessel to take it down to 000, I would have to change the resin in vessel one 2 - 3 weeks earlier. Indeed, I've never needed to change the resin in vessel 2. Some people swap them around. I don't do that because vessel 2 is much larger and I don't fancy getting a hernia. Obviously I will have to change vessel 2 eventually but maybe once every two years or so (hope the resin doesn't go off).
-
what are all these fittings for what sizes do i need and where do they go. I get I will need fitting for the Di vessells, pump in and out, and one for connecting to the pole. But which ones are for what? Its an 8mm MB Hose.

With the DI's did you purify on demand or fill tank through them?
-
DI Vessel £97.00 :o Hope those are filled with resin. You best buy a 11l + vessel, nothing smaller. That is about the right size for tap pressure.
Microbore hose, you can pick 100m up for around £50.00
25l bag depending on make should last you 4-6 months , don't know what LWC was using :o

di's are filled and the hose includes the real.
what one is 11 liter D.a.

£97 filled from pure freedom is 6.5ltr volume, 6x18inches. i know cos i got one. and wish i'd have known about D.A Supplies they do 11ltrs filled for £107 delivered!! and like his other posts, are quality vessels. and like he says about the size of the vessel, its got more to do with just how much resin you can put in, its how much volume of water and litres/min it can cope with too.
-
chears, I will go with two of them then :)

If funds are tight, you needn't buy the second vessel immediately. 11 litres should last you a few weeks before the TDS starts to climb. Maybe buy a vessel this month and another one next month - before the TDS starts to rise. If you do this, make sure you keep a close check on the TDS though.

I thought you would know better LWC. ;)
It's got to be the worst resin out there.

No mate, it's pants, I used to use it when I first started out (didn't know any different) then I got some dowex just by chance (decided to use a different supplier) & couldn't beleive the difference. I've always kept records from day one of my resin usage, that's almost 5 years now & it makes it quite clear that purolite isn't up to the job. Even on a twin DI system purolite isn't any good as it doesn't hold a low TDS at all. I decided to try some tulsion from DA. SERVICES last year, I'm still on the same bag & it's even outlasting the Dowex.
The other point to extending resin life is to purify on demand, i.e. have vessels on van so the flow through them is very slow & not blasting through as it would if you were filling your tank through them.
If you were to do the above I would guarantee you satisfaction with resin consumption. ;)
-
Yeh i have 2 smallish DI vessels in the van and i fill through them in the morning.
Hmmm

With your tap purity LWC I wouldn't use an RO at all & if your working area has the same(ish) soft water you could just top up on site with custy's tap if you ever get low on water.

We have our own bore hole so not everyone is s lucky as s to have nice clean water.
I think il need to try DA Services one next time round. Ill see how long this one lasts me

I would put your DI's after the pump too. ;)
Off to the beach now with the little 'un, that's the beauty of this job! :D
