Hi all,
I have been cleaning domestically for a while but have now decided to do commercial jobs also. I have just come back from a building used to host events/partys/meetings etc they require a full clean every 2 months so sounds good. However as this will be new to me i need help with pricing and chemicals. Whats the going rate per square metre and what about chemicals? i use portable extraction. The areas are mostly drink stains ( alcohol ) so i am told. Would really appreciate your feedback
Thanks ;)

Do you have any info on the carpet type?
Mark

Not sure is the answer, its not carpet tile but pretty standard thin pile which is patterened in places really don't think it will run but one thing i forgot to mention was the previous carpet is still underneath for some reason they didn't take it out so not sure about colour or fibre :o it has been cleaned in the last few months and no sign of anything coming up from previous.

How bad is it?
Any blackcap on it?
If its not too bad you may try something like M-Power or Pure Clean (though thats got expensive) or Chemspec DFC210.
If really bad something stronger.

Hi Coyote
You'll probably get more of an answer once you fill in your profile with where you are etc. A proper name/trading name would also be helpful.
You'll get more detailed answers once that info is available and also once we know something more about the carpet and what equipment and chemicals you use.
My particular question would be why are they changing cleaners. What has the last company done to upset them. It's a valid question because for all you know the company who commissions you may be a company you wouldn't want to deal with because perhaps they have unrealistic expectations or perhaps they don't pay their bills. And you wouldn't want to be out of pocket, would you as it sounds a fairly large job although you've not given us the size of the carpet either.

Are you sure that's what to recomend on black top. I would of thought that is best kept for those houses that are kept like show homes where the soiling is very light. I would say Powerburst or Blitz would be better choices.
As for price, negotiate. Ask what the have been paying. Ask why they are not using the previous company. Price or Quality. Don't give your price then walk away try to talk to the man/ woman who makes the decissions. Ask him/her what you need to quote to secure the job.

Hi Chaps
Sorry if i seem rude by not displaying any info it's not for the want of trying honest. I have recently moved house and to say my pc connection is rubbish would be an understatement >:( I am trying to get a pic downloaded and update my profile as soon as this bloomin pc allows it. Until then what can i say... Well the company is called Supreme Carpet Cleaning and i am based in the Lovely county of Wiltshire. Have not long been independent after working for a company doing oven and carpet cleaning. Wasn't interested in the oven cleaning so wanted to give the carpet side a bash. Company i was working for had little to no knowledge about carpet cleaning and had taught himself how to operate from various websites! I use a portable powermax with all the trimmings and have completed training at the Prochem training centre. I feel at home with the domestic side but am venturing into commercial now also so any help and advice is much welcomed and appreciated :)

Right guys in response to previous postings here are some answers for you.
The reason i will be doing the job is down to luck as the manager is friend of my best mate and he mentioned me. Current company they use really specialise in general cleaning and im not 100% but think when they have cleaned the building have hired a machine out for the day so the job being done is not great. I am going back on wednesday to clean a small room as a sample and give my quote. Probably a silly question but as the carpets dont seem to be a salvage situation could i not use good old extraction pro then ff rinse are would it not produce a good enough result? Also what should i be looking to charge the total area to clean is roughly 380m2 ???

Right boys and girls i seem to have sussed it! My good lady told me the error of my ways apparently the pic i was trying to download was about 2mb and as our connection is rubbish the pc was having none of it so i will have to make do with my impersonation of jet li whilst playing footy for now ;D

I always go in at a quid under my domestic rate per m2... :o

Colin, if I did that I wouldnt be making anything. ;D ;D

Hi Nevil
If you read my post closely I was asking a question "Any blackcap?"
The I said "if its not too bad you may try something like....... "
I wasnt suggesting using Pure Clean or other stuff listed for blackcap ...... but having said that I have shifted small amounts with hot M-Power. I know some wont want to hear that but there we are!

Sorry Joe, That will teach me for not reading your post properly.
I have heard that M power can be used on Black top but never tried it. I know the many people swear by it. If it works well then who can knock it. I will add that I cannot bring myself to by such an expensive chem when there are so many good ones around. Anything that is an unessesary expense looks like money down the drain ( or soaked into the ground ) to me.

how much do you charge?
well the answer is,
how long will it take you to clean it.
how much will it cost you to clean it.
then the formula
how much you want to earn per hour to have a comfortable life style x by the amount of hours it takes + cost of job + (cost of running your business annually divided by 365 divided by 24 x the amount of hours it takes ) + the cost of a maccies =
simple really.
personally i'd try between £1 and £1.50 per meter.

Actually M-Power works out very cheap. OK you but 5 litres and it looks very dear, but its 1:120 ratio so it goes a massively long way. 1:120 is less then 9 mills per litre, and the cost is less then 1p per sq metre.
Nemesis is similar stuff but at 1:150 and less price for 5 litre.
-
i'm sure there right but i find it really hard to stick to microsplitter mixing ratios, 1 to 150 :o
i struggle to stick to onestep which is 1 to 20 or 1 to 30. i just have to add a little more.

Usually Derek, "we" think the suppliers are kidding us by instructing to use more then we actually need.
Your suggesting the opposite, the suppliers are telling us not to use as much ???
Adding another "guggle" is not the way to go. Less is more.

Sounds like my working mans club (previous carpet is still underneath) will I no way.
When I started I knew zero (still do ;D) so I sub it, best training course you could ever go on.

Hi Ian
1p's worth (approximately)
I have done 2 pubs in the last 12 months with M-Power - came up good.
