im getting 11on the tds presure is 40 is this right

I am getting around 14 tds from 266tds at around 55 +/- psi...sound ok to you? but it is a very new membrane (hf5-4040) and I understand they do take so time to 'bed-in'.

hi pingu i managed to get ro off veriatech in the end , hows your new one getting on ?.
yesterday i was getting as low as 9tds now its 11 .

I get 005 ppm with a boosted pressure of 4.5bar ( No idea what that is in psi ) Incoming water is around the 300 ppm mark.

is it the higher the presure on the ro the lower tds ?
just turned the tap and now its 9 then went back to 11 cant work it out , the instructions arnt very clear.

4.5 bar would be around +/- 65psi....ish

Water pressure of 40psi is on the low side. To get better performance you would need a booster pump.
First check if the stopcock is fully open, or if you have a pressure reducing valve on your mains supply let it out a bit more (most people probably don't have a prv).
Could always phone June at Gaps Water as she is helpful and will give good advice.

there is a tap on the ro if i tighten it up tds climbs if i losen it tds goes down , i think it lets more waste out by losening it or somthing like that.

NEVER SHUT THAT TAP FULLY!!
what you should do is close the tap bit by bit slowly untill your tds starts to creep up and then you have your optimum running setting.

Water pressure in = 85 psi
TDS out of 40 40 = 21
Never got it any better, hard work for the resin

I have ro-man 300gpd unit which has 3 membranes. Even though I bought it new, 2 of the membranes were performing very poorly. Apparently they have a shelf life even though they were in a sealed bag.
Ro-man sent me 2 new membranes (fee of charge). After changing them the tds went down from 026 to 007. Water pressure is 55psi. Water fed into unit around 185 tds.
Something seems to be wrong with your RO to get such poor performance.

I got a pump 'on trial' from pure freedom. Tap water tds 300, tds out of the ro 4. It fills my 500 tank in 1 hour, brilliant!

i go to 100psi and get 002 ppm, with tds of 300 going in

Just because the pressure is high does not mean theres something wrong with it. The flow of water might be a problem depending on how many litres come out the tap over 1 min.
I have low pressure and low flow of water its a real pain.

What pump is that,you say you can fill 500ltrs in an hour.

I do believe there is a significant difference between the RO-MAN style 100/200/300 gpd systems and the 4040 type with regard to handling water pressures & tds...the rejection rate is normally a little higher for the 4040 type systems but then again it is handling water at a far larger capacity that say a 300gpd ro-man system.
I do not think you can really make a direct comparision as they are doing the same job but differently with regard to flow, capacity, speed etc.

Yes but if you are getting a tds of 021 from a fairly high water pressure of 85psi, to me that means something is wrong.
To get a pressure of 85psi would think the water flow would have to be reasonable or the pressure would not build up so high in the system.
If you have a low water flow rate it might be better to use a ro-man unit as they produce water more slowly than the 40 40 units.

you say never close the tap fully but wont the water flow out of ro when you take off the hose,
and am i wright in saying that if you open the tap fully this will flush out the system?.

I have relatively low water pressure. If I fitted a booster pump, my static tank would fill up quicker I take it, but would it improve the ppm coming out of the membrane (currently 14ppm)? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

you are right.
I check my tap tds yesterday it is 617 :o >:( normally 470 ish, tds starts at 8 and goes up to 13 after filling 2000l of water and this is without a booster pump.
