Got the glyder today.
Clamps are sorted. Very rigid. Solid feel.
Light enough to hold above your head for short periods if required.
I am pictured holding the pole so the end cap is at knee level. Could gain an extra 5 feet or so by reaching up.
-
looks like you could do with a new camera aswell ;D ;D ;D
-
does it glitter in the sun ? ??
-
;) dead right about the camera. Crappy 2meg job on the blackberry. Also, I think a drop of rain must be on the lens. Oh well, at least you get the idea.

Whats the weight of the pole,
I thought (NEC)it would have a lot of sales for people with employees as it should take the rough treatment.
-
Yes. I think a balance between toughness and lightness. Clamps are tough. We have employees and they are gonna love this pole. Less trips to the van to change poles.

How long is it closed please.

Only till Monday morning.

Do you find it odd with the clamp leavers on the right of the pole? as a right handed user would have his/her (equality & all that ::)) left hand as the clamp hand?

thats the best way of working! Im ambidextrous anyway, so it doesnt matter
-
Never had left handed clamps. Thought they were all right handed

Yea same here, I don't think I could get used to that very easily, I'm used to the X-tel and SLX.
-
looks nice, how much do they cost?
-
List price is £370 plus VAT

I think you`ll find it works the same as the SLX if you lead with the left hand,to release the clamp it would be no different to the SLX.
-
This is how I work, holding the pole in my right, tucked under my arm for adjusting with my left hand undoing or tightening the clamp!
-
No different to the SLX,most people are right handed therefore IMO the clamps should be on the other side.
-
i wish i was rich ;Dand taller :'(
-
me on other days
-
That looks a bit like that Tangerine man to me lol. ;D
-
yep, hes made a comeback!! and hes out for trouble
-
Luke are you getting that pole i`m tempted to get 1 on monday.
-
I did like the Glyder alot, have you seen one yet? I might get one though!
-
I`m interested to know how easy they are to extend and put down ie do they slide smoothly.
-
yes, it glyded!! ha ha. Id say it was as smooth as the sl-x, but it was a showroom model without any carbon dust and grit on the sections!
-
Nice picture. Most guys that have been waterfed for a while are used to the exel clamps which had the lever on the right. Just hold the clamp with your right hand and flick up the lever with your thumb. This leaves your left hand free to extend the section.

Only if the glyder sections can be turned to any position. I have my SL-X clamp levers at the side of the pole, not on top or bottom.

Hi Jeff
Just wieghed it. 2.11 kg without the brush head
-
Thanks for that its often difficult to get pole only weights. Just wish the light modulars could be as telescopic as the slx. Do you use it hose in or out ?
-
Just trying to compare, so its the same weight as a four section 24ft Unger ali.
-
I use the superlite hose out but the GLyder has internal hose.

Which do you prefer now you have the choice ?
-
Hi Jeff
I only use the superlite for windows in excess of 45ft and only if the weather is not too windy.
The Glyder is only 28ft reach so a very different tool.
We have been using 35ft ergolites and xtel 24 & 28 hybrids.
I also have 45ft xtel carbon (Find the handle section too thick) 45ft ergolite (good all round pole), 60ft ergolite (8ft sections a bit awkward to use), various smaller poles.
We are looking to replace the hybrids with the glyder and use 40ft ergolites instead of 35ftrs. Will also have a small pole 12ft xtel or multipole.
One van will have superlite, one will have 60ft ergolite and we will need one more long pole. We are considering the compact 65 ergolite as we find telescopics far quicker to set up and more practical day-to-day. Also, they are a bit tougher than the superlite IMHO.
We find the Superlite a bit of a hassle to construct. Also a bit annoying in a city centre having to put the spare sections somewhere as I drop down to the next level of windows.
However, for a bigger job and in the right conditions the lightness of the Superlite is amazing and once you have it set up you can work quite quickly at that level. Just need to pick the jobs and the day we use it on.
