Title: using too much resin
Post by: lenny1 on March 24, 2009, 08:57:49 pm
hi

i have a van mounted di system, when first bought last year my tds out of tap was at about 180 ppm which though high was ok for me as wasn't using system so much.

now after having to change my resin again after only three weeks due to my tap tds now being 280 ppm for some reason and using the system more i have decided that i will probably need to add a ro system of some kind.

what advice i could do with is how i go about it as i only have a 250ltr tank as have a kangoo and was told cant put a biggger tank in it so it doesnt last long before needing to fill up and the di only takes twenty minutes where if i had i ro it would take much longer and i can't wait that long if need to fill up at dinner etc.

I was wondering if i could have a ro system in the van to fill up every night , and on the occasions when i run out of water about a day a week i could still use the sytem as di only so not waiting so long to fill up so therefore saving be a lot on resin.

hope this makes sense also can't have a static system because i am short of room at home.

please help thanks.

have you tried 2 vessels together, that may solve your problem and cut your resin cost down by half on the road , still think you need an ro though if your tds has jumped that much

Lenny1, I am trad, but I have a kangool and would be interested in some more info about your setup, do you fit your poles inside the kangool or on the roof rack. If inside what pole(size) do you use, and do you think its the largest you could fit in it.

I you wouldnt mind I would love to see some pics.

I've run a kangoo D65 with 400ltr for nearly 5 years no probs.

2 x DI vessels & TULSION resin will more than double your resin life & also you're better off purifying on demand & not filling tank through vessel!
