Title: Im being so selective
Post by: bad trippy on March 24, 2009, 03:22:23 pm
This is the 3rd week of canvassing now, tend to go out during the day for a few hours, most ppl out obviously but i do find by doing this it gives me a feel for the area, the people and you can tell whos windows are minging too. Then if i feel the area is gonna be warm to hot i go back on the evening to try and catch the outs. I also am being so selective as to the types of houses i canvass, i keep well clear of larger houses big bays and the like, im sticking mainly to small to medium size house at between £10 and £12 a hit. Ive noticed that you start to get raised eybrows and nos to over £12. Its strange how ppl see pricing aint it? I mean for a small 10 min job costing £10 people are more than happy to pay but a house double in size double in windows and double in time wont pay £20, they seem to focus on the 20 quid leaving their pockets rather than see the benefit a regular clean windows, this is why im selective in my target areas, anyone else share the same view?

The comercials I do are really only small shops, but my biggest qoute was last week, of £120 still waiting 2 here back. But yeah I do feel larger houses still want it done for the price of a small flat. I feel if you smile dont hesitate with your price, hymminn and hawwing you'll do fine, they dont want to pay it then so be it, they can only have a good service of they pay a fair price, they pay peanuts they will get monkeys.

On the issue of larger houses and people not wanting to part with the bigger money:

A few years back I had a customer who lived in a pretty gig house...6ish bedrooms a few bathrooms, lounge, dining room, front room and a massive kitchen. Now this old girl lived on her own and used one bedroom, the kitchen, the lounge (occasionally) and one bathroom. Never used the rest of the rooms. So I used to clean just the parts she used and charged her (from memory) £15.

I think it might be possible to give people who live in large houses a bit of a menu.

£10 for so much
£15 for this much more
£20 for that as well
etc
etc

Good idea or am I talking rubbish again? ::)
