Title: buying pure water
Post by: sam peafield on March 23, 2009, 04:09:06 pm
Just wondering,

As an alternative to producing your own water does anybody know of people/companies that will actually sell you alreay purified water and if so how much do they charge ?

someone posted something about this a long time ago, and as far as I can remember it was way cheaper to just stick a static in your garrage. Look at valeting companies in your area.

really I only see three options,

1. buy it, but it will be over priced(probablly)
2. Rent a garrage, with static or fill up your van with filter kit in it.
3. Buy a stand pipe, and fill up a van mount.

What sort of system do you use, can it go in the van?

andy thats the topic I was talking about, I think it was p holly but cant be sure.

yep a few have been helped to do that, it works well

or and i know a few who have done this

RO under kitchen sink and a rain water butt ( or 2 ) on the ground floor under the flat, then just a thin 6 mm pipe down to the RO ( the 6 mmm pipe just looked like a sky TV cable )

What is the TDS in your area?

Could you go DI only? If so, the standpipe idea could fill your tank in 60 seconds flat, and just DI after the pump, before the reel?

Hi . you are in a predicament,
i can t see how you could run one from a flat,
and as for the stand pipe idea, i wouldnt think you would be allowed to use them,
dont quote me on this, but i might be right,

I have seen preasure washing companies using them, you just rent them off the water board, but they are about £120 a year as far as I can remember.

A few points on that though, you really want to be with the van when filling, as even if you have one of these hatches in the side of the van, someone will def knick the stand pipe.

Also some if not used for a while need flushed, but if you use the same one all the time you will have no probs.

and sorry to here about your breakup mate.

cheers everyone,

As usual friendly helpful advice,
I am in Nottinghamshire

Really not sure what to do cos cant carry on filling at relatives much longer, real shame cos business just starting to grow nice now. can't get my head around the "airing cupboard" idea but please elaborate i am all ears ears please bear in mind i am in second floor rented appartment (wimpey new build one) not sure i could have hoses trailling everywhere ???

Doe any one rent a garage for this purpose, i mean garages are easy enough to get hold of but not sure about with water and electric.

I have citreon dispatch van and produce water into 1000 litre omnipole static tank dont think it would fit in van

Doing my head in now any suggestions would be great.

Ladder garder, thanks for your kind comments.

Sam

I popped into an aquatic fish place the other week for some hose attachments.
They sell pure water at ,wait for it ,15p a litre.
So to fill up a 25ltr barrells is £3.75.
Ok you can probably do 6/8  houses odd with this, if you trad the bottoms, so you can still make out of it, but 15p a litre is a bit steep.

Hi, I posted this question a long time ago, I pay 2.50 for 25 ltrs.
Yep, it may seem a lot to the guys who produce their own for "pennies" but at the moment, it suits me fine.
I am very busy doing other things so to be able to ring the shop and tell them how much I want and when, fits in with what I do.
Also, I get a receipt for the water so it goes against my forthcoming tax bill :)
