Title: Distance to work
Post by: Rayleigh Window Cleaning Services on March 21, 2009, 09:19:13 pm
Wondered what distance we travel to our jobs daily or maybe just a couple of times a month.
I am never more than 10 minutes from my home, so I consider my work very compact. However that has taken a long time to acheive.

this is where I wish I was in england, because if I wanted to go to a different area I would have to buy another licence,  :-[ but for large contracts £100 plus I guess I would travel an hour, maybe 25 miles if I didn't have to get another licence.

I am about £40 per year, but you need insurance as well, but not for each licence. Some areas are much more expensive though someone put a link on the licence for england post to the prices.

No Stan, look at this example. I've got 46 custies, just under 60 mile away in one area, average price 12 quid, every six weeks. It takes me two days to do them, so that is all together 4 hrs driving and a daily takings of more than 250 quid. Why is that madness ?

Yes Stan, very good point, however, I built my round and didn't have a chance to buy one, you can't buy a round over here. The only Brit custies I have that want JUST outsides cleaned are mostly 20 to 70 miles away. I have Guurman custies all around me but they are ALL without exception by appointment only (They ring and book me day/time)
I would still drive that distance in the UK if it meant a reasonable return. When I get to these areas (Squaddies houses) they are all walking distance apart. I would imagine that's a hard and long slog to build something like that in UK.
You said you bought alot of your work, good idea if you want to get up and running fast, but like I said, not an option here.
Hope you understand my point now :)

mine are mostly 5 - 15 minutes away, I dumped my further flung stuff,  and thats partly cos of the weather playing nasty tricks just as I tuned off the motorway.
