Just wondering what do you think cos the system i got (omnipole) is second hand and has not been used for about 6 months, so far its been running for 12 hours and only just half full, is there something i can do to speed things up.
Thanks
Sam

What ro do you have if you have one ??
Could you say what you have on the system in full will help with the answers and also tap pressure if you know that as already said.

Redcaddy,
thanks, no idea really just got it on full blast from garden tap, it seems to be producing about 4-5 parts waste to 1 part pure is that norm cos it driving me nuts now how long its taking ?
what can need replacing cos its a few years old now maybe 5 but not had to much use and as far as i am aware nothing has ever been replaced or serviced
Thanks
Sam

RO, now u testing me its the omnipole 1000 litre set up with red 50 litre trolley the tank is 1000 litre capacity and has 3 long blue cylinders hanging vertical with 3 smaller white cylinders horizontal above the blue ones as you can see far from mastered the technical terms yet but sorry its best i can do for now,
your advice/ answers are very much appreciated.
Thanks

Could well be a 300gpd, changing pre filters can increase fill speed what is the tds out of it before di ?, do you have a booster pump with it ?
-
It's the RO-man 300gpd as marketed by Omnipole. Take no notice of the '300gpd (gallon per day) as none of them ever produce what they're supposed to.
An 'unboosted' 300gpd should produce about 1000-1500 lts a day, so yours is about right. The older systems did have a high pure/waste ratio and if you try to reduce this the membranes will suffer.
I would recommend changing the prefilters (the ones in the vertical cylinders) as these are probably knackered, and will damage the RO membranes (in the horizontal cylinders) if they're not replaced.
Buy direct from RO-man or from most on-line suppliers of WFP equipment.

Ian,
Thanks you a "diamond geezer" as them southern shandy swillers say, hope you not south of watford or i just put my foot right in it.

Ya joking aren't you got my ro 300gpd running at a litre every 90 seconds with booster and got all new filters + membranes
-
If this is a omnipole 300gpd system then it will take about 18-24hrs for it to produce 1000ltr of pure as i have the same system I cant really give you an exact figure as i have my system in a lockup so basically i take out 800ltr's in the morning and by the next morning it is full again but that was the figure given to me by omnipole themselves, mine is nearly 5 years old now and has a booster pump on it. You can speed things up slightly by changing the flow restrictor that is connected to the waste pipe but doing this will use your membranes and resin up quicker so not really worth it.
hope that helps

Thanks for your reply, i think we have same system by sounds of it, i know its digressing somewhat but you said you had yours in a lock up producing water for you, thats exactly what i want but am finding it nigh on immpossible to find one can you tell me how you managed to get one please ?

500 L in 12 hours
thats 1000 L in a 24 hour period
i dont know if you have guys working for you etc etc, but if you havent, that will be more than enough water anyway

That works out at 960 lts per 24 hours. A bit on the low side - what's your pressure after the booster?
-
Ihave a 40 40 with a booster pump and mine takes six hours to fill
1000 ltrs

you have a problem then, what booster pump do you have ?? 3.6l a min :o
-
i have low pressure and only produce about 500 a day but that is the norm round here and is still plenty for me to use .

1000 ltrs
That`s to long with a pump it should be more like 3.5-4 at the most.
-
Dont know what the pressure is have been running it with lot s of waste at about 1/3 pure 2/3 waste
-
What pump do you have.
-
I have the ro-man 300 gpd.... it takes 12 hours to fill 650 litre tank, for me.
-
don,t worry mine takes at least a fortnight to fill :'(.......its a 200gpd
-
clarkes cbm 240
i have it set up water goes through pre filters softer then through pump then ro
-
just looked at spec
101 ltrs per min

Do you have a web link for that pump,i think i was told clarkes are good.
-
just google machine mart

-
What is your PSI after pump.
-
product: 051011130
CBM240 - 1" Multi Stage Water Pump
This high efficiency multi stage pump combines high output with huge 48 metre head.
this is the best i could do
-
What is your PSI after pump.
have no way of checking it
-
I`ve found the pump Alan thank`s,can you tell me what it increases your water pressure to after the pump please. My pressure is quiet low but if i can get it to 60-70 psi i can produce 220-240ltrs per hour with my membrane at least.
-
You mean you don`t have a pressure gauge on your pre filters or after them, can you remember how much water you were producing before you got the pump and then how much more after.
-
i used the pump before pre filters where i have a gauge but had to many leaks but the pump would push the gauge up to 100 psi to 120 psi so 70 psi no problem
how much waste to pure do you have
-
All depends sometimes i have little waste to produce more water today i had very little waste and produced 1000ltrs,the tank or after RO reading was 005ppm and that`s with no pump using a HF5 RO.With a pump giving me 70-100psi i will easily get 250ltrs an hour with that membrane.
-
i get 010 TDS water here is 390 /410
-
Tap water where i am changes from time to time, sometimes it`s 250 sometimes it`s 200 but i would say a good average of where i am is about 220 from the tap.I take it you use a softener although the research i`ve done dosen`t warrant it,it works out cheaper to buy a new membrane.

What about it lol.

and me but its my pressure and with booster gives me 40 litres per hour.
-
40ltrs an hour is pants.

I guess you dont have a meter, I am the other way round ;)

Alan, I get 009 no pump 4.5 hours 650L on a slow day, pumped down 2 about 6/7 waste 1/4 I would say against 3/4pure
-
40ltrs an hour is pants.
tell me about it. I think its down to the outside tap, Its the one that screws into the main pipe thinking about changing it for a T joint.

Change it to a t defo, I had the same problem for a day ;)
-
Have you got a pic of the T joint.
-
Its just a normal compresion T joint from B&Q with a flexi hose to the out side tap. The trouble with those outside tap kits is that it screws into the main pipe which is a smaller outlet that the main pipe giving up less water flow. LESS PRESSURE.

I did the same and also put a tap inside before the outside tap as im lazy at night ;)

I will reduce the waste to pure today and see if it speeds things up a bit
will let yoy know
