how many litres off water before the 10 inch carbon filter is dead approx
50000 /100000
-
depends on your water tds,
a low value tds would last longer than high vale, you cant put a figure on it all depends on the water your putting through it.
-
ok 280 ppm
and its softened water
-
66945 ltrs

how did u get to that figure ummm

Jonisondell are you sure you are not quoting for DI resin. The guy is asking about the carbon filter, the one which removes the chlorine.
V8edd, I have no idea, but I usually change mine every 6 months.

Hi Folks,
I have a 200gpd RO Man set up.
I used to change the filtres every 6 months and flush weekly for 1/2 hour. However, due to very high limescale, the membrane didn't last 6 months. Now I flush 1 -2 times daily for about 1 -2 mins and change the filtres every 3 months. Now the membranes are running at 004, as good as new, after 6 months.

This does depend on how many carbon filters you have in use. If just have 1 10" carbon filter then I would say about 20,000 or about 2 months use. If you have a sediment filter first and then two carbon filters (carbon block and GAC) then I would say about 30-50,000 litres or about 3-5 months use.

this all confusing as June at Gaps just told me 100000 litres is fine

Are you sure that's not the 20" filters? Usually 4040s are supplied with larger 20" pre filters?

I really do not think that a 10" carbon filter will last for 100,000 litres.
RO-Man rate their Carbon block filters at 13,000 litres, this is on the low side for a carbon filter, but it is better to be safe than sorry with a wrecked membrane.

if you get the filters cheap enough chage them every month for £3.50 ish no big deal thats 10inch, I change mine often as they are cheap and membranes no so cheap, also helps with the amount of water you produce asso as they start to clogg up goes the tds and down goes the production times.

Remember this is the amount of water running through the filters not the product.
I supose its depends on the ratio of product to waste. If you get what I mean.
