Slap a bit fibreglass on it where its worn and rub down...maybe
-
Cut it down and use as a short pole or spare pole
-
I have to laugh at people moaning about getting "only" a year from a cheap fibreglass pole.
What do you expect? It's a material that will wear given the use that window cleaners give it.
Here, just replace the pole www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Glass_Fibre_X-Tel_Premium_Poles.html That will work out at less than 30p per working day. RIP OFF I SAY ::)
If you want a pole that will last go for the brodex black ali ones. I've tried almost every pole on the market and for longevity of use they can't be beaten.

That was my point in the original post... £100 is a lot for a pole whichever way you look at it... im not moaning, its a debate....
i posted as it has worn out, and today it snapped..
i have botched it with areldite... cut little bits off... put peices of plastic under the clamps...... 7-8 MONTHS AGO.......
So in real termas they last six months.... so a lot of money. ;)
-
used gxtel 24 footer today for the first time :'( worst pole ive ever had .
so bendy (whippy) feels like it could snap at any moment, and with the viken brush on the end i think it just might.
-
I bought myself two nice new shiny Harris pole today for under £30, they should last me and my new employee a good 6 months or so, maybe more! 8)

yep well worth the money .

Gary, how much have you been able to earn using that pole over the course of a year?
-
they,re good but not quite long enough got one myself.
need to think of a way to extend it..
i wonder if Harris know us window cleaners use there poles ....they could be on to a winner if they make a few adjustments and price them right. just a thought
-
I e-mailed Harris, no reply!. Tried a second time. Still no reply! I'm still working on it. Bit bendy on 5m pole. wonder what it would be like with an extension :-\

There is a way to use an unger section to extend the Harris pole by 5' I'm told. Details are on either the Academy forum or the DIY one, can't remember which!

Take the rubber handgrip off using heat, fit an Unger alu N95 section onto the base of the Harriss.
Also an Unger top No1 telepole standard section fits inside the Harris No1. Use one of the intermal springs from most Unger tools and drill two new locator holes in it. Or wrap some pvc tape as a stop on the Unger section and insert into the Unger No1 until it wedges- not a telscopic but just that bit more reach.
Personally if you need that extra height,on a regular basis- get a proper C/F Map M16 from cheshire fishing, or Stapely water gardens etc.

Gazza....buy an SL-X....considering it's weight, flexibilty..it is a great pole ...ok I would love for them to be 100 notes each...but there not...but I'll buy another one...
Why not see if anyone in your area has one and give it a 'spin' (no pun intended ;))
Cheers
Dave.

But you pay £400 for a slx and mine did not not even last 9 months :o. That would really give you something to gripe about Gazza ;D
Got fed up with it spinning and slipping so just use it when I need to get to 30ft and use a Harris for everything else.
-
Send it to me - i'll have it.

It sounds like you need to replace the No.2 section as previously discussed.
