Hi all, first of all i am new to this forum, well writing a topic anyway, i run a cleaning and landscaping / grounds maintenance company in Peterborough called the LAG group, i read the forum topics quite frequently and have found it very educational on do's and dont's of the trade, i am looking for tenders and more contract work in the area and at present hitting my head against the wall, is it my methods or are others struggling with this, my method is simply researching the company i want to do business with, finding out how to contact topline management, and usually emailing them, when i try to contact them direct by phone its very hard to get through the receptionist, they seem to smell sales people and reps a mile off.
Regards
Ian

Unless you have specific email addresses, your email may be going to their junk folder. When I contact companies I go for landline, mobile and email address (specific)

Receptionists are like rotwielers. Try to find out who makes the purchasing decisions and then send in a letter of introduction outlining your service. That worked for me when I started.

what makes it bad is the fact i used to be a recruitment consultant for years and always managed to get a sale, i used to think i could sell a book to a blind man, cold calling and getting in to do a presentation and winning over big companies was a doddle then, i must be losing my knack.
