Title: Vehicle Expenses
Post by: Steve B on March 11, 2009, 11:17:25 am
Hi all wonder if you can help me or advise?

I am currently using my car which is also used for domestic use and claim 40p per mile for business use against tax, my question is if I need a repair doing can I claim this back against tax? or is all repairs included within the 40p per mile allowance.

Hope you can help :)

i have allways done 40 p per mile, you can change it when you change your vehicle, i changed mine last year and plan to do the other way as 40 p per mile doesnt add up for me now

:) I regularly exceed 10, 000 but not all window cleaning, most of it is visting family who all live at least 200 miles away!! And when i go mountain biking at weekends i sometimes drive upto 100 mile each way so it all adds up quick, plus my rounds are 50 mile round trip each day too so i easily clock miles up!!

My window cleaning mileage is about 10,000 too and my round is hardly compact.  I do other miles too but they are private usage so not counted.

its 40p a mile for the first 10k, then 25p/mile for everyone after that, if you have an economical reliable vehicle, it will work out well, but otherwise because of the price of fuel now and repairs, car tax % and insurance% plus maintenance i'm thinking ill go this way for the 07/08 tax year. i always work them out side by side throughout the tax year, and normally mileage wins, but ive had some major repairs this tax year and dont seem to have done as much mileage as in the past.
