hi forum any tips on cold calling tactics ie. time of day,your speel,sorry if this sounds daft but what about the dress sense i think smart casual not sure though

I do a lot of canvassing, do,nt generally start till 4pm and work all the way through til 8pm, it,s the best time to catch the majority of people in.
Smart dress never hurts, in fact people generally buy the person first, the service is usually a bonus 4 them especially if u r conscientious courteous and do a good job 4 them.
Generally say this.... Hi there, just wondered if u have a window cleaner at the moment, Customer... Yes... obviously move on.
Customer....No... to this i just say would u like one?

hi stewart, i can only agree with what paul has posted, one thing though don't be put off by the answer NO! this will happen, be positive and move on and it will fall into place, when you consider how many houses there are out there in comparison to working window cleaners, you will soon realize that there is more than enough work to go round, i personally have never brought work off anyone, started with cold canvassing and everytime i go out to work i always pick up new jobs, infact i would say never a week goes by when i don't pick up another £20 -£30 worth of extra work, at this rate there will come a point when i will have to turn it away.

Hello there from Ireland,
When I was starting out and was at a loose end I would offer to do one of my mates houses free and work would always generate from it. People nearly always approch you when your working and generally you will get regular work from them.
If I am knock on doors, I do it in the day and always have my belt bucket on and would usually start with " I am cleaning a few houses in the area today and was wondering if you would like yours done"
Short to the point and instant money if they say yes.

Just one thing to add to the good advise you've already had. - Dont think of it as sales pitch. You cant sell the service to someone if they say no.
You gat a lot more work, a lot quicker by just saying "thanks anyway" and moving on.
I rarely get passed "Hi, my names Jonathan, I'm a window cleaner in the area..." and they butt in with one of three things: "Yes Please!", "no thanks", or "got one already."
And dont be put off by other lads in the area. I have work where there's 3 lads all with good rounds in the same street!
