Title: help leaflet design
Post by: darren Jones on March 09, 2009, 05:34:08 pm
Hi folks,

Starting my own business in carpet cleaning and was looking for some advice regarding leaflets and design. I have spent hours designing my own and my missus looked at it yesterday and could not stop laughing. She never explained why.

On a different note Does anyone know the email address for dave from chorley. As i need to get in touch with him for some advice.

Many hanks
Darren

As it is mostly women who book us carpet cleaners then my advice would be to ask INDEPENDENT women (not wives or close related) what there opinion is - what they like what they dislike, would they likely trash it in the bin or give a ring.

Funny but Stockport must have more carpet cleaners per square mile than anywhere else I know, there's loads of them on here are they planning to take over?

I live in Sheffield and apart from JasonL knowone in my immediate area comes on here, Paul from Kinder clean is closest I think.

Darren look at your ideal customer audience and think what they want and design to them, don't guess it.

Colin,
Last time i spoke t mark, he was working 7 am until 11 at night 7 days a week, and was struggling to keep up with demand, im sure once he gets chance to sort it he will. I have dealt with DP for some years and have always found there service to be second to none.

Do you get much leather work from it? I think Steve Gunn does from his leaflet but still 3 per 1000 is good.

Is it from Mark at DP?

Clinton I think you'd have to get alot of traffic before putting prices on websites unless you charging £20 a room.

I have always advertised prices on all leaflets and advertising even yellow pages, does seem to cut out all the timewasters, i know that not everyone agrees but it works for us.

I dont really have any competition Shaun, there was 2 other reputable cleaners in Halifax,  i think one used to post on here.I havent seen or heard anything of either of them for at least 6 months so im not sure if they are still trading. There are Chem dry and Rainbow guys quite local but dont affect what we do.I like to work on £40 an hour when cleaning and spend 25 hours a week cleaning, i take leaflets out 2 hours aday with the wife so an average day is 7 hours, Mon-Fri.Mark

Leaflets are underated but just a ball ache getting them out and keeping motivated, if I had a reliable source I'd do leaflets and keep local but the book fills with customers so mustn't grumble.

Mark

How do you classify a lounge

To Some people a Lounge can be 30feet X14feet

Would you do that for £40

Or is the word Average your get out clause

Very nice attractive post card

The good thing about marks post card witht the prices is it stops the price shoppers and stops the wanting a carpet cleaned for 25 pounds :)

I had prices on my leaflet, here is a pic from the leaflet  I used in 2005

note the bit at the bottom which says that the price is based on £2.60/m and the exact price will be given when surveyed

When i used to put prices on my leaflets it always said,

" based on an average size 3 bed semi, room size 12x12. extra charge applies to larger areas
