Found my own, starting him tonight!!
Was just about to post to say how would you find it best to let him price work, pane by pane x cost per window, or averages , ie 3 bed semi £10 , 4 bed £13, add a bit for con, bit for lead etc???

Canvassers seem to have set rates from what I've seen mate. If you contact a couple, see what you get. I'd love a crack at it if I was in UK.

Dont let a company like that price work for you, you would be better looking to buy someone else round. At least they know the job. I tend to go out in the morning 7 sharp and do an hour before I start.
If you can find the time to do it yourself, dont do pay someone else. I know most dont like it and neither to I, but its unfortunately part of the job in my opinion.
I have concidered training someone and have them do it a few hours a week, but decided to save my money.

I am taking out an experienced salesman tonight to train him up for me..... So wondered how you would feel is best to get them pricing???
I am good at canvassing, just dont see why i need to work and canvass, too much for me got a young family and like to see them!!
So someone canvassing for a few months till i am where i wanna be suits me, pay him 2x whatever he gets, so a £10 house pays £20 and i recoup the money in one month
-
I would say thats a good way to pay them, then they have a drive to get you as much work as they can. Once I have a few employee's I might re-concider the employ a canvasser idea.

Just tell them your pricing system, but remember they are not window cleaners, so thing that you might look at safety issues etc you are going to have to go over that. Also let them know how high you go etc, methods you use. It has to be good if they know allot about the equipment you use etc as well as just counting up windows.

Yeah sure, i am expecting to get some dud jobs to start with as he wont know what i can / cant do but i will eventually get him trained well im sure, and im sure if he does price windows i cant do i can soon drop the price for custy and keep them :) or stop paying for bad jobs, that will soon incentivize!!
But it should be a good thing , looking forward to getting it up and running, sat at home printing off maps and leaflets for him, and some spreadsheets for him to record jobs :)

Ihave used a company they have been going out for me and are very good know how to price they are in coventry
you tell them where you want the work and how much and thats where they go
very happy
-
Ladder gardener,
just curious, do you seriously doorknock at 7 am (wow !!) fair play to you i think what sort of response do you get at that time ??
Sam

i know F off

You misinterpreted that, or I said it wrong, I canvass at 7, which to me means put out flyers. Door knocking takes to long and although Door knocking gets more customers, generally the extra that you get, tend not to really be that bothered. The ones that chase you down are the ones that pay on time want a window cleaner, as supposed to taking one on out of convenience.
Well that my look at it anyway.

im ready to cry, just done a couple of hours of canvassing. arseing about in and out of houses, drive 100yards n stop n out again. got like 2 yeses. ahh its soo draining! i just want to clean a window or 2.
:( >:( ??? :-X :'(
-
A couple of yeses in 2 hours isn't too bad.Stating the obvious but if you can get only 2 new customers a week thats over a 100 in a year which would make a big difference.I'm new to this lark myself and thats the way I'm looking at it.

thanks craig! i hadnt thought of it that way. just gotta stick at it and hope for the best!
