Post by: spindle on April 02, 2005, 05:19:54 pm
i am thinking of starting my own carpet cleaning company.....................can i get some advice ........i have cleaned a few carpets with a borrowed machine.......but i would like to purchase my own !

i own a vauxhall vectra so it would need to fit in the boot/backseats down!!

where is the best place to order/buy one........and does it come with full training?? do you get a starter kit of chemicals with it??

i have read that u charge between 3-5 pounds per sq meter..........    obviously the bigger the house the more u charge

I suggest you enter a search on carpet cleaning with Google.
This will throw up manufacturers of machines, chemicals and training.
You need to get the work first and the best type of advertising is WORD OF MOUTH. You will not get this for some time and no business can run on a few customers that have a clean once a year.
The bigger the job the less per metre, usually people will seek a volume discount.
Lastly, you should consider a van over a car. This has its own perception and you should aim to give THE most professional approach possible.
Consider adding a signature to your posts with a name and a location, you will find help and advice a bit more forthcoming.
Good luck and try the search feature on this forum if you have a specific query.

Chris,
Go into profile and add name and area as a signature, saves typing it each time.  :o

Check out Ebay. You may find a good secondhand machine on here. If you don't know whats good, when you see one advertised ask this forum. Chemical aare cheap, so don't worry about that until you get started, Training is recommended.
And most important don't think about how much money you can make, or what these guy make/claim to make. You need clients first, money follows next, no clients=no money.

I would also consider a van If I were you, not only from a perseption point of view but also from a practicle point aswell.

Do a search on vans, you will see that some cc's are saying there van isn't big enough!!!!!!! obviously this is because they have a wide range of equipment, more than a newbie will need for a few years.

But even so, you will struggle to get a HWE starter pack in any car.

The single most important thing is training, both in c/c and also how to run your venture,so many co fail in the first yr,this is mostly down to lack of training,
