Title: Squeegee trail
Post by: Davindo Cleana on April 01, 2005, 07:19:02 pm
I wondered if anyone might give some advice re my technique with the squeegee - been cleaning for a few months and get the job done, but I am losing a lot of time repairing mistakes i.e. when I squeegee, I often leave a mark, which I think is at the point of turning (like a four inch or so trail on the glass)
I have changed rubbers and tried different squeegees but I am the common denominator in this
This is a good site and I have learned a lot already including purchasing equipment - so thanks for the shared wisdom

Have you put to much detergent in the water?

And what detergent do you use?

Roy :)

I did use Fairy but changed to GG3 (which I like a lot) problem is I got the same thing happening with both - I was wondering if maybe I am lifting the blade without realising it - I have asked a couple of my mates in the trade but they cant figure it

Forgot to add - I don't think I use too much - maybe a little more generous with the GG3 than I was with the Fairy
thanks

sorry to harp on with this - the mark I leave is not a drag mark but more like a dab with the blade (like a paint brush dab) I have to go now as the nurse has arrived with my injection :)

I used to get that on the first turn and to fix your problem slow down and watch what your squeegie is doing and try changing the way you turn the squeegie until you stop getting the water mark left.

It's all practice im afraid

Get up to Newcastle on the 23rd April and get Terry B to give you a quick lesson, and I mean  QUICK!!.  Watched him at the NEC and could do with him on my squad for a while!!

The other question is what length blade are you using, I used to use a 14" blade and had a lot of problems early on, ended up reverting to 10" for a week or so as it gave me good results and I was confident with it, now use 12" for nearly everything
