Title: Been asked to clean & shine a wooden floor? would an oreck orbitor do??

I know this is not really the right section but I thought I'd try here first.

Firstly I know ZERO about wooden floor maintenance, but the customer is aware of this and isn't expecting miracles, so were not talking about sanding back or anything major. they just want it cleaned and given a shine  ::)

I've had a look at the floor (sorry no photo's) - It looks in good condition, I can't be certain of what the floor is, but i would guess it was a hardwood laminate ?? BUT I COULD BE TOTALLY WRONG  ???

Are there any fool proof products to:

A - To give the floor a general clean, to remove the grime with a buffer  (any advise on what pads to use would also be great)

B -   To put a shine to it after the clean.

I just hoped someone could recommend some "Can't go wrong " cleaning product to get rid of the grime (it actually doesn't look that dirty to me) and also a polish thats easy to apply.

Finally equipment wise, I have an oreck orbitor and a cimex cyclone, would any of these be OK for the job, What pads should I buy?

Job not booked until - OH GOD !! just realised - Friday the 13th march ( is that an omen) so plenty of time to sweat yet.

Ideally find out what you are up against but

Most pads will do but black is the most aggressive, I'd have thought that grease will be the main thing on it so after sweeping apply a degreaser but you do have to keep the moisture quite low, you could mop it on then scrub and use a wet pickup from your hwe.

Get some white vinegar and when you are happy with the clean mop a diluted version on to floor to reduce ph and apply 2-3 coates of finish but you do need to get the right one and identification is the key to what you need.

Shauns right i would see what ur up against.

Try it out on a similar floor and its the same as c cleaning its not how it looks but how it drys and finishes without swelling etc
