It seems so long ago that we were locked into a serious winter and unable to work for days and for some weeks...
What are you going to do for the next coming winter?
Do you have any idea's plans or maybe even a project that will help you through the next winter?
Cheers
Dave.

Yes mate, over here you can forget Febuary (-15/20 normaly) Going to throw a sicky on my health insurance. No, we turn a gear up from September onwards and tick over. By the way, you got mail mate ::)

Im going to do nothing as most winters you can mostly work.
I know we have had a couple of boughts of snow this year but most years are not normally like that.
-
Next year I'm getting salt in 25kg bags, and as long as its safe to drive, I'll just salt the footpaths and leave the heater on low. Still not always possible to work a full day, but every bit earned s better than nothing!

There is one thing i plan on doing before next winter is the insulate the van.
I plan on putting it behind the plylining and also insulating the roof and and plyline that.
My system has frozen up several times this year so hope to reduce the risk a bit next year.

I plylined my van and isulated it, everything still froze, I did not do the roof d'oh lol :-[

Thats why because you did not do the roof. ;D

I've insulated the roof and the top door panels with 2" rigid foil wrapped insulation board. It loos a bit of a mess at the moment, but it made a HUGE difference to the temp in the van.
It stopped that annoying condensation on the roof too!

snowing up hrere rihjt now

boy, did that get cold on the quad!
1) have nearly finished 3 tonne trailer with 8" x 4" marine boards vertical, plus insulation. Inside theres room for 1) the quad 2) two 400 litre tanks, 3) wood burning stove 4) genny, pump & 2000GPD industrial filters and luxuries if luxuries a porta potti!
I intend to roast next winter.
2) if it gets deep with snow again then I'll get the snow plough from the accessories catalogue & a fertilizer spinner & make the money clearing where the council can't go.
As our American buddies say, there's never a problem only solutions.

No..... you can't plan against the weather...it will do what it will do. In the same respect what do we all do if we have a really hot summer, you can't achieve the same turnover in 80 degs plus as you can in cooler weather, it all balances itself out in the end :)

Personally I had just moved into a new house and my setup was not what it could have been...had my 500l outside storage tank freeze completely locking my pump in it's grip and when it did start to defrost the container spilt...
So am at the moment:
Ordering all the pieces for my 4040 system so I can make water quickly and without the need to store large amounts of water...and with the HF5 membrane I can do without a pump....
All of this will be mounted on a board so I can use it either at home (for the most part) or a qucik fit into the van for the very large jobs I have that require more than the 400 litres I carry...
Insulate water tap outside
Insulate shed where the 4040 will be for the most part.
Bury water line in the garden to shed.
Independant thermostat in the van for the heater during the winter.
Insulate the van tank, lines and fittings.
Cheers
Dave.
