Title: Looking to go hot
Post by: jr windows on February 28, 2009, 06:40:53 pm
Hi all,
I'm looking to change to hot water Wfp. I have read the 16 page thread on the l5 and it seemed to be doing well until it turned into a time bomb.
How are you getting on with it? Would you recommend getting a second hand diesel water heater?
Thanks for your help, jason.

There are webasto heaters on ebay,.. but incorrectly installed they are as dangerous as incorrectly installed gas systems (and they are a lot harder to install!).
I'm happy with my gas heater,..

I use a gas heater, love it and wouldn't be without it.
nathaneal, I thought you'd turned your back on gas heaters as you'd decided they were deathly?

Me??? No,.. that was NWH!
Gas/diesel ANY kind of heater should be installed by a competent person and with a serious amount of attention to detail and H&S research. Done right its perfectly safe.

I'd never go back to cold,.. even my weekly shop fronts are done hot!

:)

that thread is a classic, it went from the best thing since sliced bread to a ticking time bomb waiting to go off ( all on the say so of a home gas fitter and a fireman  ::) and i bet a guy down the pub )

1 of the best threads in CIU history

imho the gas heaters are fine, something like the L5

they use them in barge's / canel boats , hunting cabins ( in the USA ), in R.V / campervans etc etc and they work and are safe for them purposes, as far as i am concearned vent the van properly and have the right safety stuff in place and your good to go

Would you wash your hands/dishes/clothes in cold water?

No! Hot water cleans better, its common sense! For regular work, the difference isn't huge,.. first cleans or sea front work there is a huge difference.
