Try the Bio Cleaner from Alltec - Great suff on old smelly rugs! make sure you let it dwell. - in bad cases i have used it neat (do a colour test)

you say you cleaned a flat,
does that mean it smelled of wet dog after you cleaned it?
if thats the case then it was a wool carpet, they all smell of wet dog after cleaning.
if you put your question wrong and you are going to clean a flat then ignore me.
derek
ps... if it is how i read the question, then once its dry it won't smell anymore.

Sorry Derek, my fauly. Yes it was stinking before i cleaned and now i have finished it is worse. It is a cheap nylon horrible carpet and i think that they have let the dog p all over it or at least rub its wet stinking body all over the carpet.
P.S - Im a dog lover!

You could try Prochen Crystal Green with Clensan to clean and sanitise and add Ouderfresh to the solution

If there is an underlay it will be worth a look at that if there is urine it will likely be in there too. The best answer is to cut out the offending area and replace it. Crystal green and clensan is good solution, you can also use clensan with fibre and fabric rinse if the carpet feels sticky, the acidic rinse will flush the soap residue out. Are you using pre-spray?

I use the "Magic Water" (MPower) in these situations. 120:1 - Heavy Mist, dwell 20 Minutes, Extract & Post spray with MPower - works for me! In fact one of my letting agent contracts gets me in every time a tenant vacates a property who has had pets.

i add odour fresh to the solution and then post spray too

Shoot the dog.

I used MInt Fresh by Craftex on a letting. The owners have gone to the states and had a Retriever. I've cleaned for them before and it was far less noticeable. I think it's when the place is locked up for a while makes it a lot worse.
Anyway used Mint Fresh before and it seems to do doggy smell, urine obviously needs a special neutraliser first.

You need to go back and see if the smell is a dog smell or urine contamination, i would deal with both in a different way. Dog smells are caused by the bacteria that live in the dogs coat, i would tackle this on a nylon carpet with high PH products to make sure you break down all the grease and high heat to kill the bacteria, if you use a porty put red hot water in the tank and also use the heater if you have one.
If its urine you need a neutrelizer, in this case put plenty down, if the problem in either case is really bad then the underlay could do with replacing, saying that it might be cheaper just to replace the whole lot.
