Title: Customer Question?

As I was working yesterday with my truck mount, the customer was on the phone to her daughter.

Question came down the line......  are you steam cleaning or using hot water  ???

You could ask her to elaborate on what she means by steam cleaning.

If she knows a thing or two about carpet cleaning, allow her to tell you. It's always fascinating to get the facts from someone who doesn't have them. ;D

I would say that it is Steam cleaning, but that I have to turn the temperature down on this particular carpet to avoid damaging it.

Hi

Why not just be honest, tell what you are actually doing to and for her carpet, she is informed and can pass you on to her friend and other friends as you have been honest & courteous?

I agree Martin, but the lack of knowledge some customers have can be costly to the likes of us.

I remember stood chatting with a lady who has a huge house. She was keen to get all her carpets cleaned and went on to say that the company that fitted them recomended steam cleaning only.

I tried to explain to her that I use the process that is comonly known as steam cleaning but she was having none of it. That was an important day in the learning curve for me.

Hi Guys

It all gets a bit blurred when using a TM because the temp dial says over 100 C at times, well over 232F ;)

However by the time it exits the wand , probably about 90 so still hot water , just.

However if the custy asks for steam cleaning , they mean HWE, so no need to confuse them.

I have used the following phrase on leaflets, websites etc.

'we use the hot water extarction method, sometimes called steam cleaning'

And just to confuse matters further; with high pressure pumps the water atomises as it comes out of the jet and therefore looks like steam.

what I actually said was in the form of a question to her.

"What produces steam?" I asked

"hot water"   she said

"I am cleaning your carpets with hot water - some call it steam cleaning, some call it hot water extraction".

she made a note of it.  :D
