Title: Spitfire pump problem

I've done a search on the forum but can't find an answer to my problem. So, can anyone help???

Fresh water pump on the H/M Spitfire TM is making a shuddering noise, like it's struggling, and it isn't keeping up with the flow of water needed at the wand. Checked all known filters and they are clear.

Would be grateful for advice.

I don't know the first thing about these machines, but could you have an air lock?

I've already spoken to Craig, he thought it was a blockage somewhere.

Ours does that sometimes. If you go to the filter on the side of the mix tank and loosen it that releases the pressure on the solenoid.

In our case the solenoid sticks ever so often.

if you have the manuel for the spitfire its part no 169-120

Agree with Ray but unless you are running live feed you don't need the solonoid. Take it out!

to check the pump is ok atach a hose to the outlett on the pump and turn it on, if it pumps out ok then the pump is fine. I have hose pipe conecters joining a hose together between the pump and the mixing tank so I can seperate it and fix it strait from a cold tap, if yours is the same check the conecters. There is a filter just before the mixing tank, ive had to clean a few times. if all that fails have you tried putting kettle descailler through your system ive always found that that helps. good luck

Thank you everyone for your help.

Think the blockage is in pre-heat radiator as followed yr advice and by passed it and pump seemed to work okay. So problem is now - how to remove blockage from radiator!!!

My t/m has always bypast the pre heater, it goes strait from the pump to the mix tank. never had a problem yet, so dont rush to fix raidiater as you will proble need a new one

I don't have a TM! However had this problem on a car and reversed flushed it with a hose, forced no end of gunk out. Just connect a hose to outlet (watertight) and turn on the tap. This may not be suitable for a truckmount so check with a professional fitter first.

Failing that take it to a radiator recon place and they will sort it.
Had exactly the same problem when i had a Spitfire 4.0 many years ago :)

We have a Spitfire and had same problem simply take the rad out of the system it makes virtually no difference to heat and stops all the problems its a recurring one as  well   Best Simon
