there has been some talk about ionics new 65ft compact e2, but there is another pole called the glyder 25ft pole it looks like a baby version of the compact, it should be at the cleaning show, just thought i would mention it as some may be looking for a new 25ft pole it might be worth the wait it might give the facelift poles a run for there money as the glyder should be retailing about £400

Most likely going to be something to compete wit the sl-x, but the sl-x is now a 30ft pole!
-
well we will have to see when its released. as for give in the slx a run i don't think so as the slx is in a class of its own, the only thing the slx suffers on is wear but still early days yet for the pole there is always room for development and improvements, ionics have been at the game longer than Alex, but not many can compete with the lightness but i think that don't help with wear, if it was slightly thicker carbon wall it might wear better and longer but then it becomes heavier cant have it all ways, the original ionics pole i got lasted 6 years of life through a couple of owners, but it wasn't the lightest pole ever.

£400 notes bit steep for 25 ft

£400 is a very good price actually. An SL-X is much more.

is it?

What a good price? Or the SL-X costing more?
I think it is a good price, if it's on par with an SL-X.
Providing the £400 includes the brush and plastic gooseneck, it's £45 cheaper then the SL-X. The new SL-X is 30ft, but the old one I remember correctly was at least as expensive as the new when it first came out.
Plus the 24ft Facelift is £495.
So yea, good price if it's going for the same performance and weight. :)

As far as I can make out the Glyder is £400 all in + VAT + Delivery for 25ft.
The new SL-X is £387 all in + VAT, but free delivery for 30ft.
The 'old' SL-X was £361 all in + VAT + Delivery for 25ft.

The glyder looks like it is 5ft closed which would be pefect,i`ll wager it`s a good pole from them the chances are they`ve compared it to others about before making it.

I'm sure that they will have compared it to others before releasing it :)
It's closed length will depend on its actual length. It appears to have 5 sections, therefore if it is 5ft when closed it will only be about 22ft when extended. If it is an actual 25ft (which would be unusual for Ionics to quote an actual length as usually they quote reach) then it would have to be about 5' 9" when closed.
It will be interesting to have a good look at it soon.

Ah, I thought the Glyder's £400 was VAT inc. My apologies. :)

If it's 22' it would be useless to me, as I need 25ft for my Domestic's, I can reach everything with my SL-X, with 22' it would be too short.
In fact, I think Ionics is a bit useless to list their poles as reach instead of actual length.
That's something I've always appreciated from the Gardiners, the don't mess about, what you see is what you get, with one of the best, if not the best customer service around.

Just got this reply from ionics-
Dear David,
Thank you for your interest in the GLYDER pole that will be released at the cleaning show on the 10th of March. The Glyder is particularly aimed at residential window cleaners who need a light, narrow pole that is comfortable to use all day.
In answer to your questions, the Glyder will retail at £350 + VAT (so therefore £402.50 including VAT) and this includes the brush head. (The head will be our standard residential head)
The Glyder's actual measured length when extended is just over 25 feet (7.82m).
By our convention of measuring poles at their "reach" length, this would be a 28ft pole.
The Handle diameter is 35mm, and it has 5 sections. The Glyder uses our brand new range of orange quick-release clamps that are both lightweight and strong.
I hope this answers your questions, but if you have any others, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

35mm, I can't remember what the 25' SL-X has, I think it was 34mm.....not sure now.
Doesn't sound like a bad pole at all. I wonder how light and rigid it is.
Hopefully somebody can do a comparison.
-
You are right, Tim. SL-X - 34mm
I will see GLYDER at the exhibition.

Vadim

It is Carbon isn`t it.

In concept it is just an added top section but in execution it has a completely new carbon weave to improve rigidity and reduce weight, it has re-designed clamps and is slightly shorter when closed.

It doesn't actually say whether it is pure carbon or hybrid carbon or not even carbon at all but price wise I'd imagine it would have to be carbon.
