Title: NEW WEB=SITE
Post by: Oakley Windows on February 19, 2009, 05:32:28 pm
Opinions on this site Im drawing up.

http://www.basingstokewindowcleaning.com/

Not finished yet, got the SEO and a few mods to make, but basically there.

Is it presentable and can it be realised to the general public  ;D

Sorry mat, I don't like it! :'(

The type makes it look dated!
The pic although nice, seems unrelated!

I hope you get other more up-building feedback!

if it's any consolation I haven't even got a site, so what do I know ::)

Don't feel sorry Chameleon. ;D
Hi Matt,
It did no seem to be central on the screen and was overlaping at the bottom.
I also thought that the colour was too dark and the vid was too slow.
But if your customer likes it and it ranks well, who am I to judge

Yes the picture is a bit slow (I know it's supposed to be!) but it seemed fragmented

But then I use an apple mac computer, using the Safari browser!

I would defo change the font, I would remove the water drop as it is pointless.

http://www.basingstokewindowcleaning.com/healthandsafety.htm is not loading.

Navigation i would change a little, the left nav is very good but either add the top nav to the left and leave it or remove the top nav and replace with what you subline is on your header.
gutter cleaning could have a page on its own as could Upvc.

Defo change the font m8, oh I already said that  ::)

http://www.basingstokewindowcleaning.com/payments.htm the address at the bottom is in need of going up as seems to be under footer.

Will end on a positive, your doing well just needs tweaking ;)

Change the font style but thinking about it your biggest problem here is the white font.
When I used white font on my site before google picked it up as 'hidden text.'
Also if your going with this design you will need to change the wording so it all falls within the right hand border.

Thanks guys, it looks like because Iv been using text boxes its not cross-browser compatible.

Thnks.

Ill have to get rid of them, 'absolute' positioning isnt cross-browser compatible.

Cheers

Dont really like it Matt, for me there are far too many white lines and like the others agree the text is a bit dated looking.

Better than some, but I think you can do it better :)

Hi Matt,

Use browsershots.org this will show you how your website looks in all the different browser types that are out there. Hope this helps.

Perhaps people in this country are too reserved....Ill say what I think. I dont like the site at all. Other than the fact that the site gives you an online presence and means for contact, Im not sure its going to make a positive impact at all, perhaps even a negative one. But full marks for getting one up, and it wont be too hard to get it sorted.

The main problem imo is the dark colours, try using lighter colours, after all, you are a cleaning company....clean=clean layout and colours

One of the best sites I've seen recently is Kev Red's one,.. take a look at his colour scheme, font choice, general layout etc for some pointers.

You see the way I see it, and Im not knocking Kev, but its just ANOTHER template, same old same old, just a variation on a theme, some stock imagery, same menu features, boring white background, no imagination.

How many different font variations on the front page? 8!
