Title: Van and WFP stolen from Ipswich!!
Post by: BVC on February 18, 2009, 11:55:34 pm
Hey guys.

My white escort van  (L818 TAV) and wfp gear got nicked from outside my house last week >:(
If anyone gets offered any gear (shurflo packs, green unger poles with triggers on them. A long shot I know, but you never know your luck) I would really appreciate a heads up. ;)

A word of warning to my fellow wc's. I had the contents of my van insured under my policy. when I tried to claim though I was told that the wfp gear is specialised equipment and not covered. ??? I have lost all my gear, wfp, ladders, sat navs, even a brand new bag of rubbers!!! I can claim on the small stuff but what I get out of the insurance company will not be worth the increased premium and cancellation charges for the van. Make sure your wfp is specifically insured and that it is for enough £ to get you back up and running if the worst should happen.

I also lost my workbook. 4K worth of work in it. prices, addresses and telephone numbers. had to spend the whole week notifying my customers that I have not given up or passed on the work, in case someone gets hold of my book and tries to canvass or undercut. I have lost a grand worth of newly canvassed work though because it came calls from leaflets and It hasnt been done yet, so ive got no clue where most of it is.

NEVER LEAVE YOUR BOOK IN YOUR VAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just hope whoever done it is stupid enough to call on my regular customers because I will take great pleasure in hurting them.

cheers

bvc.

thats bad mate feel for ya big time i had mine stolen last year but i hadnt been up n running very long, hopefully with it bein an old vehicle it may have just been stolen for the sake of being easily broke into i.e snap n cappin which is more difficult with newer vehicles.

good luck

I get a bit careless sometimes when it comes to locking the van, I never leave my work cards in the van over night though. What hassle when you don't remember who owes you what,  I have a lot of advanced payments so I do take extra care with round cards.

Hi,

I agree with Sparklebright "scumbags"!

It does annoy me when the police do find these scumbags & stolen items, & then simply return the stolen items, as if everything is back to normal?

I agree with the taking away from the thief part, but to be honest, I don`t think I would want the item back, but instead, financial reimbursed for its value from the day it was stolen, & the loss of earnings!

Ian.

Sorry to hear of yourlose and I hope you get your van and equipment back soon.

I would also recommend that you change you insurance brokers to A Plan, they cover £3000 of equipment including poles on my van insurance, and they cover £12000 worth of tools from theif on my Public liability insurance.
