What do you trad guys put under the feet of your ladders on uneven ground?
I had a downpipe to unblock today and the customer wouldn't go up himself - scared stiff his ladders would slide away. I'm worse than him but when it's for money it's got to be done. ;D
I used my limpets and found a piece of tile to wedge the leg too. Must be some proper mats/wedges out there?

It's not often I agree with Ronnie, but he's right; get yourself a set of ladder mats AND a Rojak ladder stopper (or similar type bit of kit).
You can do stuff like build up one side of the ladder with the ladder mats and still use the ladder stopper.
Ladder mats are a good bit of kit.

should think they are alright for odd job but a ball ache to carry round all the time ;D ;D
If you're trad, you can put one or two into your bucket (they come in packs of four); they're no trauma to carry about.

Nah, they're about 6 inches by 8 inches; they come with a ring holding all four of them together, but you can just pull the ring off.
Stick two in your bucket and keep the other two in your car for really steep inclines.
The Rojack ladder stopper is a bulky bit of kit though.

what thickness are they Tosh as sometimes i need to make up 3 to 4 inch
They're roughly about an inch thick each; I can't remember how much they cost; but they're a handy bit of kit.
They're better than using old bits of wood, bricks, stones and stuff we've probably used but shouldn't have.
You'd be to make up 4 inches with all four of them, I'm sure.

I use 2 bits of scafold board cut to about 18 inches if you use 2 bits put 1 90 degrees to other dont take up a lot of room in van

Does he do the balancing on one leg of the ladder trick?

that is a very safe way to ladder when both feet are on the ground,i tend to do it this way when its windy ;D ;D ;D

I'm no Christian, but I've had a Christian (or two) explain to me that they know the way to enternal life... etc, and because they like me they want me to learn 'the ways of the Lord' and all that gubbins. One soldier Christian explained to me that life was like walking through a minefield; but he could show me the way out?!
I feel a bit like that with you with regards to window cleaning!
Get a WFP mate; it's the way ahead. You're too old to be falling off ladders doing daft climbs!
