Hi,
My 17 year old step son is at college and wants to earn a bit of money,
we have decided to help him by paying him to deliver leaflets, maybe 3 hours per day.... and 3 days per week
but how would i pay him, would it be by the hour or by the leaflet drop,
we are presuming we can trust him to do the job right, and not bin any :o
i will pick the estates, and then its up to him...
any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks.
Gary.

do it together in the evenings and weekends and pay him by the hour

If you speak to delivery companys they have maps and on them maps it has a house count, see if yo can cop these, give each page to your son and when he completes that area you pay him.
-
do it per hour say £4, and then include a quote code on the flyer - perhaps his initials?
Every new customer he brings in from his flyering, he gets say 30% of the first clean. That way he's more likely to actually deliver them and not throw them away. If they do get binned you will know cos it has his code on, if they ever find their way back to you.
So a first clean is £20 - he get £6
you get 100 houses at £20 he gets £600!!
just a thought..

thanks for those ideas... couple of good points... but wont it be proof the leaflet has been delivered if the customer rings anyway?...

well give them a quote code on the flyer to say - you you need to ask when they call - if they just phone from your details from a free listing on yell or summin, the boy dont get anything..

give him 5/6 per hour hes got flexibility of the time when he does it if he has got to study for exams etc and just swallow his wage as a loss loser.

well if he's your step son, tell him , if he does throw them, the family misses out on a holiday or nice christmas presents etc, as you are not bringing in work..

Years ago when i was in the w/c bizz my partner and i employed a young lad to canvass, the payment to the lad was if he nailed a job whatever the price we would pay him that amount for the first clean, it was in his best interest to work work work and he made himself a tidy sum and built our bizz up nicely

I worked with a guy who was "a bit thick" and was sacked from the Post Office because he got jarred off one rainy day and posted his sack of letters back in the post box!!!!!

When you give him a list of the area you want him to deliver also tell him that you do a few random house calls to see if they got the flyer .
