Hi All
Whilst trawling through some info on competitors I came across a company, obviously in the domestic & commercial side, who are offering a discount to all employees requiring a domestic cleaning service through their employers cleaning company.
I thought this was an excellent idea, particularily for those who are already in the commercial sector and are looking for a way of drumming up extra business!
What do you think? Any of you do this already and has it been successful?

Good to see you going through the competition, and checking on the services they are offering etc to see how you can improve on your service. Something a lot of us do i'm sure.
Am i correct in understanding your comment, that the company in question offered their own employees....their cleaners....a discounted cleaning service to their own homes if they wanted it cleaned?
Wonderful idea!
One of my staff suggested we should also do Domestic cleaning as an added service.....at least it would be regular work....but her reason for suggesting it was that she would get her home done, as she was too busy cleaning for me and too tired at the end of the day to do her own place.
So if i have understood your query, then yes, i would look into it and consider it.
Have you thought about going to large businessess to get an add on their notice board offering your services to their employees?
If you charge £10 per hour to clean.....suggest on your add that as a special offer the normal charge is £12 per hour (or whatever) and are offering people at this place of work a 15% - 20% discount!
Still comes to around £10 per hour which is your usual fee anyway??

When we did commercial carpet cleaning we always asked permission of the company if we could leave some info with their employees.
We used to leave a leaflet on every desk in every office with discount vocher saying they would get special rate for their domestic carpet cleaning as their company used us for the commercial work.
It worked a treat perhaps you could try something similar just make sure you always have permission.

Tim - Actually I meant that if for example you held the cleaning contract for offices of an insurance company, you could also offer out domestic services at a reduced rate to the employees working for the insurance company. Hope that makes sense :-\
I manage to charge approx £14p/h here in Kent, however the majority of competitors actually charge more, one in particular has a large amount of clients and manages to charge £22p/h but only provides pairs (so actually £44p/h).
However your idea sounds like an excellent one 8) although I need to mull over the logistics for a while................ ;D

I think that's a great idea. People would feel especially confident of employing the company cleaners to do some domestic work for them. ie like using tried and tested cleaners so everyone would be happy.
