Waste of time in my experience.

I've got personal accident + income protection,

3 weeks ago I was in hospital ahipping out my 'pendix.

3 days in hospital (was thinking insurance willl pay £100 per day!)

Guess what !? = not covered coz it's not considered and accident but a health problem!

Gutted! So I suffered day time tv for 2 weeks then limped back out to work!

Gutted.

I'll hunt teh documents out tonight.
Can't remember off me cuff but I think it was similar.
It was the cheapest option - hence why they would't pay out!

I guess you get what you pay for!????

I dunno.

I recently had a quote for accident and illness cover to pay me £600 a week, the premium was nearly £2k.

Whatever you do lie when filling in the form, do not under any circumstances admit to racing motorcycles as apparently they don't like that.

my insurance have been ok to be honest, i was dreading it, i thought they would try and wriggle out of payment

though my payout isnt anywhere near 600 quid a week, i guess the smaller the payout the more likely that will not try and get out of it

go to a ifa tell them what you want .
but the cover everything cover isnt cheap.you will need several policies.
or if you want sickness &accident for a said amount they can do that as well.

The best thing to do is to pay the money into a separate savings account instead of chucking it at these rip off insurance companies.
I pay in £20 a week, there is over £2700 in there now. Hope I don't ever need it but if I do its handy and if I don't need it - thats even more handy!

best advise of this thread  :) these insurances are never what they seem to be and think about it, if you don't ever need to use them where have all your payments gone? With Vince's way you will have a nice nest egg if you don't dip into it.

to be fair though

your 2700 will not last 6 months or even 12 months

i will get my payments all though my illness / injury / period i cannot work
