Hi Guys
I am looking for some info regarding the Ashbys V2 Steammate.
How well do they work ie does the water get hot enough quick enough?
How long is its working life ?
Will it hook up to my Extrcta Exel Machine ?
How much do they cost ?
Any comments welcome

it will hook up to most portables.
it will provide short bouts of steam or a continuous flow of warm water, don't expect it to provide hot water throughout the clean, it just won't happen
they cost around £350ish
don't know how long they'll last

You get spiked heat, mine didn't last long as the water sits in a reservoir and heats up and burnt out but mine was one of the early models, to get live steam all of the time you would have to stop keying the wand to keep the water hot or reduce the flow by getting smaller jets on your wand.

Big problem with them is if you forget to turn V2 off when you are not cleaning for more than 10 mins they burn out very quickly .Its a great bit of kit for that rare occasion when custy has no hot water .

Acording to Ashbys website they start from £599+vat.

£599+vat :o :o

Have to agree with you Mike, bought mine secondhand, sure there are cheaper options that are as good if not better.

My ninja has built in steam mate v2 still going strong after 2 years brilliant bit of kit. Don't know about them burning out when not wanding unless buit in one is different often leave mine for a lot longer than ten mins only thing i do is turn pump flow down if leaving for a cupa. Only other thing is i never use it with cold water i use the in tank heater first to get temp up to 65% first then change over to steam mate v2.

Hi Guys
Tony is probably running his in the optimum way and gets high temps without too much strain as he is only asking the hest exchanger to give 20 degrees.
A 3 kw heater cannot put enough energy into a cold water stream to give continuous hot water .

i've got one you can buy if you want. if you don't want them to burn out, turn the temp down to a decent level and the thermastat will do the rest. you only need them steaming when you are removing gum.
