Just a quickie, on your last house turn pump off and attach pole to hosereel, reel it in and the water gets thrown out, so no water in there to freeze, i left mine plugged in the other night and there was no ice in it this morning, and everywhere was icey here
-
I just put a heater in because if I did that with the hose reel the pump will probobly freeze or something knowing my luck. :(
-
I have a pole hose hosetail in the back of the van just for this,it does help a lot from stopping the reel freezing. On 1 morning a fe weeks back when we had that really cold snap the hose went like wire lol. ;D
-
I just bring mine indoors no problem with freezing then.

If you're going to do that, then why not just take the connector off the end of the hose. This will allow the water out easier because there's no resistance.
Personally I now put 1ml of isoproponal to 1L of water in the tanks.

Not being funny, but do you honestly believe point one of a percent does anything at all?

IPA is great for cleaning,.. RUBBISH as antifreeze (as I found out to my expense), unless you up the ratio to 5% or more,... that's 32.5 litres in my 650 tank,....
I'll stick with the heater,. its cheaper!!
-
Another way to empty the hose reels is to disconnect the inlet to the pump and run it dry for a few mins. Have to male sure this is okay with the pump.

IPA and methanol are great as antifreeze but in enclosed systems.
