Hi all, can you guys help me out with pricing. I have been doing a bog standard houses up until now £1 per window etc. Been out leafletting today (i know i must be desperate lol) and as i was struggling back up a couple of long drives i was asked for a quote. 1 is a big 4 bed detached georgian windows. And the 2nd is big big 5 bed house loads of big panes. Is there a forumla that you use for these or do you normally try and estimate the time taken, its just i dont want to go in too cheap

I price all mine by estimating how long it will take clean them - You can't really go wrong once you've got a bit of experience behind you.
Also... Have a minimum price.

you did nt say wether thats wfp or trad
if the georgian are leaded they will take longer
but as a ball park figure based on our local rate around about the £25 mark

for example, I'd charge 3 times as much for a window that's 3 times the size if thats any help. for georgian windows I count each 4 panes as 1 window, then multiply it by the size, if that makes sense.

6.50 and 7.50,i do about 30 of these type houses,they only wanted to pay 5quid at first.but coz there all in a row its easey work

It is really important to price your work correctly.
I think that generally speaking there are too many variables to be able to price a property by mealy guessing or counting window.
So, when somebody asks me for a quote, I tell the individual that the most accurate way to price their property would be for me to time the second clean. I explain that the first clean will take a lot longer to bringing the frames, glass and sills up to a standard that I can maintain thereafter.
I also explain that although I will lose out a little on the first clean I am nonetheless prepared to undertake the initial clean for such and such a price and then give them the more accurate pricing on completion of the second clean, whereupon they can at that time decide on whether the price is agreeable.
You may only make half your hourly rate on that first clean but the customers really seem to appreciate the extra work, and invariably it will leave them with a good impression of you.

trike I would think 6.50-7.50 would
pay for a small 2 bedroom house not a 5 bed by any means?

I factor in time taken and the obvious income and lifestyle that the person has .ie, 5 bed detached, jag on drive, large grounds.
Wouldnt dream of doing it for Trikes prices. The owner would think you were potty anyway.
