Does anyone use A6 postcards instead of leaflets, i am thinking of giving them a try, both sides printed full colour.
Im sure they will go through the letterboxes easier without tearing and they will look more professional.
Cheers Mark
-
You tried business cards Mark.
Just done 200 this aft before the weather p*ssed me off.
They go through in one piece and I think most people would actually keep them for when they need you.
Probably same with your idea too.
Know what I do with leaflets when they come through the door, file them under b1n.

I too think this is a good idea, i have already done it with office cleaning, i thought that as its thick like a post card and small the customer is more likely to keep hold of it, rather than bin it like a slip of paper. i know i would pin it on my wall if something like that came through my letterbox , i think the cheap looking leaflets tend to get binned without a glance, thats just my opinion though and sure someone else will say different, i have heard the cheap leaflets work well though, its all a learning curve, let us know how it goes.
-
John, I have always done well with leaflets with a special offer on them, dont business cards work out a little expensive?
Mark
-
full colour both sides
leaflets A5 £109 for 10k
business cards £162 for 10k
postcards A6 £270 for 10k
derek
-
A good comparison Derek but if the conversion rate is better with postcards maybe that’s the way to go.
As someone said it’s a learning curve Simon sorry I mean Derek
Only kidding mate
;)
-
Dave
Think your right on the conversion rate and if its good well thats the way to go :)
-
I think you have to do your sums on your business first, if your average job ticket is say £100 and you pay for delivery and get 1 in 1000 perhaps a good card will get you 1.5 in 1000 so you could say it got you £50.
Doing your sums can make the difference between average to good, Mike Halliday the leaflet king uses light weight smaller than A5 leaflets as he does loads and I don't think it changes his work rate but if you are doing 1 offs or areas where you may not be back for 6 months then you need it to be kept.
Shaun
-
Business cards may be kept, but it's difficult to have anything on them that will compel someone to call you immediately.
-
leaflets vat free, postcards have VAT
so it 15% more expensive straight away.
Going on dereks prices you could put out twice as many using lealfets, so the most important question is....
WILL POSTCARDS BRING DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF WORK!
if not then don't do it
-
just to let you know, ive included VAT in the prices.
you could get 30k leaflets for the price of 10k postcards. but i think the price of the printing is irrelevant, its getting them out there thats the hardest part.
let me complicate things.
lets say you get 2 jobs per K leaflets= 60 jobs (30k leaflets)
lets say 4 jobs per K postcards = 40 jobs postcards. (10k postcards)
so leaflets sounds better, right? wrong.
leaflets will take 3 times longer to put out. which is your time if your doing them yourself. or it will cost 3 times as much if you pay someone.
anyway, its all hypethetical. theres no right or wrong,
if you feel like a change then why not postcards, you may get 10 jobs per k or you might get 1 job per k,
theres only one way to find out! fiiiiight!!!!!!!

I disagree with the honourable gentleman :o
If you don't do your sums you will end up paying for someone elses holiday and not your own!! keeping things lean is what you have to do when you don't have a big turn over like BT etc etc ( I have become a master of it as it is bred into me)
Using card doesn't have to be wrong you DO have to check your figures but if you are self delivering I WOULD go card, if paying I would go paper because imagine seeing the ones that get dumped when you have paid for delivery and good quality printing.
Horses for courses BUT if you don't get anything out :o then you aint gonna get anything back.
Shaun
-
For the sake of a hundred and odd pounds the post cards are well worth a try and think if you posted through quallity houses you may get more return with p cards rather than leaflets :)
-
I think old people will keep them more than affluent as they can see through fliers and tend to dump things unless they need them.
Shaun
-
I think its more important whats on them rather than the size or quality. If somebody wants what your selling because you`ve got the message right then they will keep the leaflet/card anyway. I agree with the fact that the cards are a hell of a lot easier to deliver.
-
Dereks example above is why you should take a lot of what you read on these forums with a big pinch of salt.
people can just pull stuff out of this air and post it as though it was based on some sort of reality
lets say you get 2 jobs per K leaflets
lets say 4 jobs per K postcards
where do these figures come from? out of Dereks imagination
leaflets will take 3 times longer to put out who says? again out of Dereks imagination
but I'm not having a dig at Derek like he says, it all hypothetical.
what important is quantity I'd rather put out 100,000 1 colour leaflets than 50,000 full colour.
-
The leaflet King is right of course.
The other thing is what may work for one person in one place at one time may not work for you next week in your area.
That's why you need to test two things side by side and see which is better.
The other thing is to realise is which factors don't really have any cost implication. The main one being - what you write.
The other big factor which may not have a cost implication is where you target your message.
-
Hi
I am just having 5000 A6 postcards done at £125 + £20 for the artwork.

the 'leaflet king' is the guy who used to own Homeclean. Tradeprint Warehouse were printing 250k a month for them.
A5 paper thin as toilet roll, half price special offer 'FOR 2 WEEKS ONLY' 1 colour. delivered with the free papers
he was doing everything we say is wrong, but he was a millionaire! perhaps he knew something we don't :o :o
-
i'll get me coat.
derek
-
Yes but didn't he go tits up?
Shaun
-
What we should write on our leaflets is
This is the fifth leaflet I have posted through your door
NOW GET OFF YOUR ARSE AND CALL ME!
Because if you don’t your carpets will soon need replacing.
-
Actually Dave you are onto something there.
If you self deliver and do it in the same areas you could go the whole hog and have a leaflet with a message saying something simlar what Dave has put but well erm nicer.
Shaun
-
How about something like this then Shaun
Your next door neighbour said your house is like a s1te hole :o
-
Ever been in someone's house and it stinks but they don't know it?
Your neighbour kindly referred me to you. 10% off carpet cleaning with free deodorizer. :)
-
No I said 'nicer'
perhaps " leaflet number 2 to your property from your local CC."
Shaun
-
"this is the 5th leaflet ive delivered to your house and every time i open your flap the smell gets worse" "oh and by the way, your carpets are getting a bit whiffy too."

I like that Martin I can see you doing well with it. Do you ever see Spencer around?
Shaun
-
Hi
Thanks for the positive input.
No i don't see Spencer, only just going to start leafleting. tried it before but as stated it is mind numbingly boring, but like the 1-2 hours only a day approach, break it into small biteable chunks.
Shall keep you all posted.
