hi
I've been asked to quote to clean a petrol station forecourt. it is about 600 square metres. the advice i have been given by pressure cleaning colleagues is, don't touch it with a disinfected barge pole, i wondered if anyone on this forum had any comments and if infact anyone has cleaned this type of site and if so how did it go.

Hi all,
Can someone tell me the specific reasons to stay clear of cleaning petrol station forecourts?
-
If you do decide to go for it bare this in mind when you quote!!!
SHELL
The company said net profits rose by 96% to $3.914bn (£2.4bn) in the January to March period, a much higher figure than analysts had been expecting.
It means that Shell was earning £27m a day.
and from Mobil........
Exxon Mobil, the world's biggest oil company, has announced record fourth-quarter profits of $5.12bn compared with $2.7bn the previous year.
The US oil giant attributes the huge growth in profits to soaring oil and gas prices.
And full-year profits climbed to $17bn, hitting a world record.

hi there,
,many years ago i used to be an area manager for a petrol company, we used a company that would come round every six months, and jet wash the forecourt, the gulleys, etc and then empty the interceptors.
some of the pitfalls, are that on brick forecourts, they would sometimes blast the sand out from between the bricks, on concrete foreecourts, the pressure washing would just lift the surface grime, it wouldsnt take away any of the soaked, or ground in contaminates.
the other think you have to be careful of is not to flood the tank top wells, admittedly nowadays everything is on 'offset fills' but depending upon the age of the station, the amount of water ingress to the tank tops, can be a problem.
it all depends what the cleint is looking for, if theey just want a spruce up, or if they are looking for a forecourt back to when the site opened its doors on day one.
good luck
