I have seen an advert in my thompson local magazine from OCS but i've never seen them at work. Are they a national company and if they are how do they operate? Do they subby work out or do they have loads of outfits? The ad shows someone cleaning barge boards with wfp so they are obviously capable of wfp.

OCS other than Rentokil are probably the largest cleaning company in the country.

OCS are one of the biggest cleaning firms inthe country, i think OCS stands for "Office Cleaning Services" Im not sure if they sub work out tho....

After digging around on this site i think they stand for "one cleaning solution" they seem to have a poor safety record and aren't very popular with smaller companies on here.

No,OCS stands for "One Complete Solution" ;)

Who's the founder ? i need to talk to him ;D
-
I just spoke to my step dad and they bought out his cleaning firm in the 70's and it stood for Office Cleaning Services back then (well hes almost sure!!!)

I've got to agree! I clean the insides of an office building and OCS clean the exterior (honest); and they must just 'splash and dash' judging by the spots and runs left behind; they obviously don't care.
But the building is looked after by a management company and the tenants don't have any say over who cleans the exterior; but they're responsible for the interior window cleaning.
And there's nothing they can do about it.

It was office cleaning services upto a few years ago and now is one complete solution. They started as a family business ( and I think are still privately owned) before 1900 and back then and indeed upto the 1970s the window cleaning division was called New Century. They are into everything now they clean most of the airports and do security as well.
-
They started over 100 years ago cleaning windows, they now do quite a lot of different types of cleaning and have a turnover of £674 million per year.
See there is protential being a window cleaner.

Yes in a 100 years or so I plan to have a turnover around the £674 million mark.

It took them 100 years to reach that target, but with wfp and "the coach" it should be possible by christmas. ;D

One Complete Solution :)
They are a HUGE facilities management firm and do everything, not just cleaning they supply staff for postroom duties, security etc, they have a huge window cleaning and contract cleaning department too but those are the extras they almost chuck in for nothing for the bigger jobs like waste mangement etc so its hard to outdo them on price or size!! But there quality often is poor, but companies time and again get sucked in by them

Yeah my Step Dad also mentioned New Century
Cheers Mike ill tell him hes right......he will be pleased! ;D

My dad worked for them many years ago then I did for about 10 years by which time they were OCS. (Got an old new century half stick somewhere its red with cream at the top of the point.) They also own fox and sons who do sign maintenance.
-
It does stand for One Complete Solution, I've got a letter from them here, they do all the cleaning and maintenance at the local shopping centre, and they have subbed out some canopy cleaning to me.
-
they also do stock taking.... in large stores all over europe... one of my custies works for them stock taking....they are now branching out into all sorts of buisness :o
-
and they are multinational
-
obviously all about good marketing and buying out everyone who becomes a threat as i understand their cleaning ain't up to much .
as is so with lots of the big companies in this land profit before customer service knowing how to look after the quality i don't think so
if it doesn't earn money theyb ain't interested

My wife works in Tescos and they use similar national companies for their security guards and another company for their cleaning contract. The service they get is a joke - it really is. The contract cleaners charge more per hour than any local or in house cleaner would and offer an appauling service. At times the security firm brings a guard in from 150miles away to cover a night shift.
The whole contract thing must be based around backhanders i think, becuase none of it makes sense to anyone with a gram of intelligence. ::)
They don't use OCS

its not about backhanders, thats such a dirty word
they offer very good incentives to the facilities managers etc etc ;) ;)

"Facility Managers"
This thread should be deleted using that sort of language.
Disgusting!
